ESL update Pro League relegation system

ESL have announced updates to the relegation system for ESL Pro League.

The new adjustments come as part of ESL's new tournament format, varying dependent on the region of play. In Europe, teams that place last in the first group stage will be put into a best-of-three, double-elimination bracket.

The team to come out on top will remain in the Pro League, while teams to place second and third will go into relegation, facing second and third-placed teams from MDL Season 31. Top two from relegation secure a placement in the next season of Pro League. The winner of MDL Season 31 will conclude the Pro League line-up.

NiP will have to traverse the new relegation system for a chance at Season 10

In North America, the three squads to finish last in the first group stage will be pitted against the runner-up of MDL Season 31 in a double-elimination group. The team to emerge victorious gets to keep their spot in the Pro League. Contrary to Europe, the three teams that fail to surpass the opposition in the double-elimination bracket will join the third-placed MDL Season 31 team in continuing to fight for the last Pro League spot via online relegation.

Latin America representatives who place fourth in their group will face the winner of the LA League season in a best-of-three setting, with the victor of the affair copping a spot in the Pro League.

No this means NIP suddenly has a chance to stay in the pro league. Without these changes, they'd been out already.

For EPL Season 8 and before, it was called "NA" division, not "Americas" division. They did this change because from this season there are south american teams so the division cannot be called "NA" anymore, but I get used to call it "NA" so it will take me some time to use the word "Americas" correctly when referring to that. So simple to understand.

Still don’t understand why Nip is last place in the group, when they have the same points and better round differential

The round difference only matters from the matches between the teams in the three way tie, so all the bad round difference given to teams by FaZe does not count at all, between the games NiP-devilsone devilsone-Heroic and Nip-Heroic NiP has the worst round difference and therefor they are last

But when You would count rounds only between those 3 teams Nip sholudn't be last. Would be: NiP 95:85 Heroic 92:96 devils.one 92:98 ESL came out with weird rule that first they count points andmap difference between all matches and then tiebreaker, not like all would expect - first points and then if it's tie, map difference only between tied teams

I didn't say that rules were made for screwing NiP. I'm not even fan of them and I'm happy about devils.one going through. I just cleared the rules, and wrote why NiP is last (#20 said NiP went out because of round difference between 3 teams which is not true) and gave my opinion about what is better way to solve tiebreakers.

Heroic, devils.one and NiP all beat each other= equal or tie. That Heroic took one more map from the other two comes into play, so they finish second. devils.one beat NiP, which determines 3rd place and sends NiP back to the drawing board! ;O) They will for sure come back. I'm not worried.
2019-04-19 12:47

H2H lose, heroic got a map against faze and placed second, so it comes down to devils.one and NiP, and as you already know, NiP lose to devils.one #cmiiw
2019-04-19 12:47
0
Because they count map difference. Faze ofc 1st because of points and then 3 teams with 3 points. Map diffrence as follow: Heroic 4-5 devils.one 3-5 NiP 3-5 So Heroic is second, and for the third place deciding factor is result of match between two tied teams. devils won against Nip, so they are third. I know it's weird, because it should be tiebreaker between three teams like in football. And then they should count maps difference. Would be Nip 3-3 Heroic 3-3 devils.one 3-3 Still tie, so round diffrence should decides. Then devils.one would fall from tournament.

Tbh, it would’ve been better if they were eliminated. This gives them another chance, and they will probably make it thru these Otherwise we might would’ve seen some well needed changes on the roster. Feels line they made these format changes just to keep nip in the highest division, which is a bit disgusting.

If you read on the official site, there's a relegation system for the asia region (Australia/new Zealand, china, etc) and they don't use MDL to fill spots in relegation like they do with EU and NA. The question is: WHAT'S THE POINT OF MDL AUSTRALIA?

? Teams that place 4th in groups will be put in a separate group. Winner of that group stays in EPL. The 4th place of that group goes out, 2nd and 3rd (who were already 4th in their respective groups before) play MDL 2nd and 3rd.
