Copenhagen Games reaches semi-finals

The group stage of Copenhagen Games has come to a close, with the four playoff teams having been determined.

In Group A, Movistar Riders continued their impressive tournament form as they progressed to the playoffs with a 3-0 record, dropping only a single map in the process. The Spanish side dominantly took down Ambush in their final match of the group stage, with the Danish side finishing rock-bottom of the group following losses to Epsilon and FORZE previously.

The other two teams in Group A, Epsilon and FORZE, battled it out for tournament progression with both teams sitting at 1-1 in the group prior to their matchup. Inferno went dominantly in the favour of FORZE (16-4), while the second map was a much closer affair. Mirage saw the two teams tussle for economy control, but the back and forth rounds prevented either side from building a bank. A pistol buy at 12-13 was enough to sway the tie in favour of the Russian side, however, as they picked up the final four rounds to close out the map 16-13, and the series 2-0.

Meanwhile, Sprout and Tricked booked playoff spots in Group B following victories over both Gambit Youngsters and Söderberg & Partners in their opening two matches. Denis "⁠denis⁠" Howell’s men squared off against Nicolai "⁠HUNDEN⁠" Petersen's squad for the top spot in the group, with the Danes taking an early lead in the tie thanks to a commanding win on Overpass. Despite Sprout's best efforts to force a third map, Tricked were able to hold out for a 16-14 victory on Mirage to claim the top spot in the group.

With Söderberg & Partners' and Gambit Youngsters' fates already sealed, the two teams duked it out for a chance at a better placing and prize winnings. After the teams won each other's map picks, Nuke was left to decide who would finish with a 0-3 record. A strong 11-4 CT side half proved insurmountable for the Russian side as Söderberg & Partners closed out the decider, 16-9.
