BLAST Pro Series Madrid 2019Astralis breeze past NiP; Cloud9 scrape win over Giants
Astralis defeated Ninjas in Pyjamas 16-8 on Dust2 while Cloud9 beat Giants 16-14 on the same map in the first round of the group stage at BLAST Pro Series Madrid.
Astralis faced Ninjas in Pyjamas on Dust2 to kick off their BLAST Pro Series Madrid campaign and the CT-sided Danes won the pistol round thanks to Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen's quad kill. Astralis followed it up with four more rounds to lead 5-0.
The Swedes got on the scoreboard as they found four Deagle kills in the sixth round but they were unable to make it two in a row (6-1). Fredrik "REZ" Sterner clutched a 1vs2 in the tenth round to get Ninjas in Pyjamas's third (7-3). Ninjas in Pyjamas got within two rounds of Astralis but the Danish team finished the first half 9-6 ahead.
Nicolai "device" Reedtz and company won the first five rounds in the second half but couldn't get to match point as Ninjas in Pyjamas secured the 21st round thanks to Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg's double kill (14-7).
Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson stepped up with a triple kill in the following round but Astralis won the 23rd round to earn seven match points. dupreeh picked up a double kill in the next round to close out the match with a 16-8 final score.

The game between Cloud9 and Giants was also on Dust2. Daniel "vice" Kim and Timothy "autimatic" Ta's double kills gave the pistol round victory to Cloud9 who started the match on the defensive side. Giants hit back in the third round thanks to Joao "KILLDREAM" Ferreira and Luís "ZELIN" Lousada's opening kills but Cloud9 went on to extend their lead to 5-1.
Giants came back from 6-2 to go ahead with a five-round streak. autimatic tied the game at 7-7 with a triple AWP kill but Giants claimed the 15th round victory thanks to Christopher "MUTiRiS" Fernandes's triple kill, leading 8-7 at halftime.
Cloud9 picked up the first four rounds in the second half but Giants responded with a three round streak to tie the game at 11-11.
The North Americans reclaimed the lead thanks to autimatic's triple kill with the Deagle (12-11). autimatic got a triple kill in a 2vs4 when the game was 14-14, earning his team one match point. René "cajunb" Borg wrapped it up with a 1vs2 post-plant victory in the 30th round as Cloud9 won the game 16-14.
