Giants stun NiP; ENCE defeat Cloud9 in Madrid

Giants upset Ninjas in Pyjamas with a 16-4 victory on Nuke while ENCE beat Cloud9 16-11 on the same map in the third round of the group stage at BLAST Pro Series Madrid.

Cloud9 squared off against ENCE on Nuke and started the game on the CT-side. Jere "⁠sergej⁠" Salo picked up a triple kill to win the pistol round for ENCE who made it 3-0 after Jani "⁠Aerial⁠" Jussila's quad-kill in the third round.

Cloud9 got on the scoreboard in the fourth round when William "⁠RUSH⁠" Wierzba picked up a triple kill with the AUG. The North Americans secured seven of the following eight rounds to lead 8-4. sergej got three kills in a 3vs3 post-plant in the 13th round to earn ENCE's fifth.

ENCE now have six points

The Finnish team ended the first half with a three-round run, trailing 8-7 at halftime. RUSH stepped up to the plate in the second pistol round, winning it with a triple kill. Sami "⁠xseveN⁠" Laasanen responded two rounds later with a triple kill of his own to cut the deficit to two rounds (10-8).

Timothy "⁠autimatic⁠" Ta's 1vs2 in the 21st round prevented ENCE from taking the lead but the Finns persisted and won the following two rounds to lead 12-11. Aleksi "⁠allu⁠" Jalli's AWP ace in the 26th round gave ENCE four match points and they won the game with a 16-11 final scoreline.

The game between Ninjas in Pyjamas and Giants was also on Nuke, where the T-sided Portuguese team won the pistol round as Ricardo "⁠fox⁠" Pacheco and Christopher "⁠MUTiRiS⁠" Fernandes grabbed double kills. Giants lost the fourth round after running out of time but secured four of the following five to lead 7-2.

Giants have secured their first win

The Swedes couldn't build up a strong economy on the defensive side and lost the first half with an 11-4 score. MUTiRiS' triple kill in the second pistol round made it 12-4 and Giants won the following three rounds to earn 11 match points. fox and company closed it out with 16-4 score.
