BLAST Pro Series Madrid group stage concludes with Astralis, ENCE through to final

Upon conclusion of the round robin group stage of BLAST Pro Series Madrid, Astralis and ENCE have been determined as the finalists.

Maikil "Golden" Selim opened Cloud9's efforts against Astralis with a pistol round quad kill on the CT side, creating space for his team to extend their lead in the following two rounds. Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander and his men went on to equalise immediately after, and despite economic issues mid-half managed to amass a 9-6 lead come its conclusion.

dev1ce led the charge on Inferno, securing a 1.49 rating

Cloud9 kicked off their offense with a successful pistol round but were unable to establish a footing due to a well-timed upset from Astralis. The Terrorists spent the following four rounds trying to re-establish themselves, but the Danish defence put in work, securing map point off the back of their opponents' predicament. Timothy "autimatic" Ta and company did their best in attempting to comeback, but Astralis overwhelmed the North American squad, closing out Inferno with a 16-11 score.

ENCE kicked off Overpass on the defence, where a comfortable lead was accrued in the form of six consecutive rounds, the second of which witnessing an MP9 anti-eco quad kill by Sami "xseveN" Laasanen. Following an initial lull, the underdogs were able to weave in strings of three and two-round victories in the remainder of the half, concluding their T side with a 5-10 deficit.

allu finished the tournament with another outstanding performance

Off the back of a successful CT pistol, Giants were able to not only squash the deficit, but assume the lead, securing nine back-to-back rounds, over the course of which both Ricardo "fox" Pacheco and Ricardo "roman" Oliveira secured triple kills. Despite the lop-sided nature of the initial portion of the half, ENCE refocused, dispatching their Portuguese adversaries in the ensuing six rounds to secure a close 16-14 victory on Overpass.

Natus Vincere won the first two Terrorist rounds of their match against Ninjas in Pyjamas before Dennis "dennis" Edman and Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg were activated and got the Swedes on track with multikill rounds and entries. The score was 6-2 when Ninjas in Pyjamas shut down a long push thanks to Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson's double with the AWP, allowing Ninjas in Pyjamas to extend their lead on the CT side.

f0rest concluded Dust2 with a grand total of 20 frags

After losing 12 consecutive rounds, Natus Vincere secured the last round of the half, but Fredrik "REZ" Sterner's double and Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund's clutching ability saw Ninjas in Pyjamas steal away the second half pistol (13-3). The Ukrainian side stayed alive thanks to a force-buy win, but Ninjas in Pyjamas broke them with a B split and shortly afterward got to 15 rounds, eventually closing out Dust2 16-9 to secure their third win of the tournament, which in the end amounted to nothing as ENCE secured a hard-fought win over the Portuguese side.

Thank you, Sir! Some people seem to lose their membership of "Homo Sapiens": The THINKING Man ... when they dedicate their fan support to a certain club or team. The reasoning or chain of logic should be EASY to understand for anyone capable of THINKING: Astralis has been top#1 for a year. That may simply be too tuff for ANY team in the future to copy! SO: ANY team being able to win even a MAP against Astralis is GENIOUS, STRONG, SMART, BOLD, AMONGST THE BEST OF THE BEST! It's THAT simple! ;O)

Any European organization should be able to send its team to Germany/France for 2 or 3 days to play an online qualifier. Europe has a super efficient transport system between the countries, ping is not an excuse.

This is a shit tournament set up, bo1's group stage straight to a final, liquid got the the final against astalis due to 'round difference' it's a joke tournament, you see it's a joke because liquid want to play blast and not ESL one Cologne. Why do they want to play blast not ESL one? Because they can't compete at T1 tournaments, struggled against fnatic at t2 tournament. Joke tournaments

I'm just saying man, this tournament has so much potential, it's just wasted entirely because you have crap structure and all, I want this tournament to be better and it was more interesting before all of this victory map bullshit they made this year, it's a good idea but it's essentially just going to be a tournament for teams like liquid to try and go oh look at us winning so many tournaments, I love cs and always have but the tournament scene will only get worse with tournaments like this getting lots of attention in my opinoon

He ... "Decency" or being polite, gentle, kind, respectful ... I mean ... it seems to be sooo straight forward or natural to most of us ... I simply don't understand all the "stfu", "motherfk'er", "gay" or what have you ... COMPLETELY unnecessary! It is MUCH more interesting to "exchange viewpoints", and what would be more boring than everybody agreeing with me ... I find the Blast format entertaining and action packed, where all other tournaments basically have the same formats. Enjoy the final, my man! ;O)

That's fair, I get why people may find it more entertaining with the whole bo1 series stuff. I'm quite old school and like the bo3 series with a quarter final and semifinals before the finals. I really just don't like a straight to the finals because it's like well okay liquid are in the finals but what if it came to bo3 knock out stages before the final, they could easily be beaten like they were at Katowice by ence and the same goes for ence and astralis. To get to the final you need a challenge like at majors and cologne. We saw at the first blast that liquid got lucky to get to the final, no overtime against ence on overpass meant a draw which meant that liquid through on 'round difference' I just think that's such a boring system if there is no overtime in a game as well.

As mentioned: Your opinion is YOURS, and NO ONE can change that. I think a DIVERSITY of tournament formats is absolutely fine and entertaining. Ence took a map from Astralis today ... but when it comes to a Bo3 final, I would find it REALLY SURPRISING if ANY team can take down Astralis at the moment.

RFRSH is trying to make esports/CS into a mainstream sport like football by trying to package it into a 90 minute programme while giving no respect to how the game should be played. Treating round difference as goal difference is simply bs IMO. It's a meaningless stat that's used to punish teams on equal points. I don't think BLAST will ever be a successful event without having partnered teams. I think even the orgs and players are realizing how trash these events are. RFRSH has to be losing money in these tournaments. Idk how they can afford a $250k prize money every tournament.

It's juzz SUPER entertaining, isn't it ??! TWO days ... over and out. Action packed and full speed ahead ... Even some upset potential and chances for the "underdogs" to put up some great fights! And then the stand-off show ... Now even in Madrid there were chances for some local teams to give it a shot against the best of the best: Hat's off for Giants! It's just NOT a Major or an IEM event ... it's not the final rounds of a league ... it's just FULL SPEED ahead!

It's really f'in weird. He averaged 0.63 rating this event, I would get Extra points every single match he has played so far, but instead I got -150 points. The fuck HLTV

Worst Blast ever. Blast twitch moderating has to be the worst. 30 second cooldown in chat? You don't even have 150k viewers. It was a 2 minute cooldown at one point on the main stream. Have the word "skip" in your sentence? 10 min cooldown. Type "JW VAC BANNED CHECK HLTV"? 10 min cooldown. What a trash event and trash stream.

It's a Blast event. Doesn't hold much weight. Needs to do well at a T1 event for a top 30 ranking. Or win a T2 event.
