Queso dismiss lineup following match-throwing scandal

Queso and their team have parted ways after evidence came to light that the players had purposely lost a match in the Spanish LVP Superliga Orange.

The announcement followed an investigation launched by LVP into a recent match between Queso and the Tenerife Titans, which the latter team had won 16-14. Queso made a number of questionable plays late in the game, resulting in accusations that the team had deliberately lost the match for seeding purposes to avoid going up against Giants, one of the tournament's favorites, early in the playoffs.

LVP admins contacted the Esports Integrity Coalition (ESIC) to verify whether there had been strange betting patterns related to the match, a suspicion that was denied by the independent regulator.

EMENK was one of the players caught on the server's chat log

Going through the match log, however, LVP found that several of the players had made comments such as "it was hard to lose this round, I don't know why you won the last one," "it's hard to not kill them, I missed 30 bullets shooting him in the back and he didn't even turn around," or "we'll throw on the CT side."

LVP announced that the five players on the team are to be handed a seven-match ban, disqualifying them from the upcoming playoffs, which will take place in June. Following LVP's findings, Queso announced they would not appeal against LVP's decision and that they would part ways with their team as they are not aligned with the values and philosophy of the organization.

Because they were the ones to break the rules. Also, maybe their loss had an effect elsewhere in the league. If Tenerife Titans needed 3 points to survive and another team went out of the league due to this unforeseen throw for instance. It's about the integrity of the game. I don't know the specifics of the tournament, but technically speaking this is untrue if they could progress to a higher place in the playoffs and earn better prizes. If there's no money involved it's less important, but I doubt riders or giants would participate if that were the case.

Yes, I know. But I don't know what the rewards are in the tournament. If they won money for placing better, obviously they're going to have a better chance at earning money if they avoid Riders/Giants. Like if you placed 3rd in a tournament with cash prizes, you'll make more than if you placed 6th, do you get what I'm saying?

Yea, I mean the 6 best regular season teams go to playoff, and then, if they place better, they earn more money. Queso lost the game to avoid giants at quarter finals so they can qualify to semifinals and earn more.

No, they can't. The LVP states in their rulebook that losing games on purpose is not allowed. The club and the players agreed to those rules. They can always not participate in this league, but then they would say goodbye to their salary (not that it matters anymore). Obviously if they want to throw games they can do it, but they did it so obvious and leaving clear evidence behind that it was inevitable for them to be punished.
