New update resolves grenade inconsistency
Valve have shipped out a new update, which makes smokes, HE grenade explosions, and fire display consistently among all players.
The latest update is supposedly a response to a recent publicization of a command which allowed players to switch rotations of smokes and affected molotov, incendiary, and HE grenade explosions, causing the player to have an unfair advantage.
Meanwhile, usual inconsistencies between how smokes are displayed among players on a server, which also commonly differed from what spectators could see, has been a point of contention for years.

Both issues have apparently been resolved today with an update featuring one of the shortest changelogs concerning gameplay, which simply states:
[GAMEPLAY]
– Smoke, HE Grenade explosions, and fire are now always displayed consistently between all players.
