Winstrike confirm El1an deal

Winstrike have announced that they have completed the signing of Aleksei "⁠El1an⁠" Gusev.

The announcement follows a one-week period in which the 19-year-old acted for Winstrike as a stand-in in UCC Summer Smash, grabbing the team's attention with a 1.22 rating in the online tournament.

The Russian player, formerly of EPG and Monolith, will be stepping into the shoes of compatriot Georgi "⁠WorldEdit⁠" Yaskin as part of a rejuvenating process that the team is undergoing, according to head coach Ivan "⁠Johnta⁠" Shevtsov.

El1an replaces WorldEdit in Winstrike's line-up

WorldEdit has yet to make an announcement regarding his future plans. The former FlipSid3 Tactics member competed in the second open qualifier for the CIS Minor alongside other CIS veterans in OwmS but the team crashed out of the tournament in the second round following a 16-6 defeat against Aston_eS.

"We looked at El1an for a while, and the level he showed during practice and official games made us believe he is a young and talented player and that we wanted to have him in our team," Winstrike manager Adalyat Mamedov said in a statement.

"Huge thanks to WorldEdit for his contributions to our team and for his amazing performances in Katowice.

"Without a doubt, he is a high-level player, and we will hear from him soon."

El1an's unveiling comes at a time when Winstrike are understood to be on the verge of losing Kirill "⁠Boombl4⁠" Mikhailov, who is being courted by Na`Vi as they seek a replacement for Ioann "⁠Edward⁠" Sukhariev.

Winstrike, who will be taking part in the closed qualifier for the CIS Minor, from June 8-10, now have:
