Ghost part ways with team; WARDELL still contracted

Ghost have confirmed that their lineup's contracts have expired with the exception of Matthew "⁠WARDELL⁠" Yu, who remains tied to the organization.

The organization's news comes after Kenneth "⁠koosta⁠" Suen and Joshua "⁠steel⁠" Nissan announced on social media individually on Wednesday that their contracts with Ghost have expired.

After posting a Tweet thanking the entire lineup, the North American organization clarified that WARDELL is still under contract, having signed a multi-year agreement in November 2018, and that they are exploring options regarding the Canadian AWPer.

Only WARDELL remains tied to Ghost

The core of the roster had been part of Ghost since June 2018 and in that time they have most notably placed in the top eight at ESL Pro League Season 8 Finals, with their most recent result being fifth place at cs_summit 4.

steel has confirmed to HLTV.org that the lineup does not intend to stick together in the future as a whole, adding that "the writing was on the wall for quite some time" regarding the organization's plans with the team.

Ghost have parted ways with the following lineup:

What do you mean? Obviously the players they've invested in currently are not paying off, and there are better players out there that would be more likely to return their investments and then some (WARDELL is the player here). Your comment is assuming that because cloud 9's current investments aren't paying off, that they will be scared off and may not try to risk more money, which is a pretty valid opinion, but given cloud 9's previous investments into their csgo team, I think it's more likely that they'll reinvest into their csgo team.

I mean investing when things go bad so they can get better instead of just have a "cut the losses while we can politics" C9 is an other story and I don't know but hope they will buy some of GHOST players cause this line up was quite good actually.

Canjub is actually decent, maybe even better than auti recently. The EU players aren't the problem in this team. You need to get rid of vice and Rush, mainly Rush... He has worse stats than Golden and vice... Vice isn't good either, but Rush is on drugs for around 2 years now.

I am merely an HLTV user too but i dont purely look at stats. I take into consideration roles and chemistry For examples Rush and auti are the only true core on this C9 of wardell daps and Tenz were to join. That would fill firepower gaps and role gaps. Plus from an outside perspective daps is an IGL who can wrangle players and keep them inline. Something golden seems to not be able too. And while yes cajunB is the second best player in this team. He is EU and very few eu players stay long term in NA. The few i can think of are Dephh and cerq. With dephh being in Na for a few years now and cerq being young they can acclimatize to NA but most eu players dont want to stay in NA for long Plus with my lineup they would have the potential needed chemistry. Auti and rush are quite and reserved players. Same as daps but Wardell is loud and idk about tenz. He is an x factor. But i dont just take in stats.

No. This is the worst case scenario for Wardell. The other players are all free agents but he is under the grasp of Ghost. The only way a team can aquire him is a trade(ghost have no players) or a buyout which is gonna be huge because his contract was big and he is a top NA awper atm.
