poizon: "We needed this win so much"

We caught up with Valentin "⁠poizon⁠" Vasilev after Windigo lifted the Moche XL Esports trophy and asked him about his performances at the event and what this victory could mean for the team going forward.

The 20-year-old led Windigo to the trophy with a stunning 1.82 rating in the one-sided final against GamerLegion, even surpassing the 2.0 rating mark on the first map, Train.

In a quick post-match chat, poizon said that he believes this tournament could be the start of a new period of success for his team after a run of poor form, and commented on the recent rumours linking him with international teams.

Train is one of GamerLegion's worst maps, so I guess you kind of expected a game like that, but Dust2 is one of their best maps. Were you surprised that it ended up being this easy?

It was not easy, actually. Everyone was snowballing and feeling the game. I had a 3K in the beginning and I said: "This is my game, guys. I am going to crush them". And that was it.

Before this tournament, you were going through a difficult moment. What were your expectations?

We came here to win. We went through some bad moments in the past two-three months so we needed this win so much. Now we can be even more focused. After WESG we went down and down. We were like, "What is happening?". I think this is a good moment to go back up.

You had a fantastic tournament with a 1.38 average rating. Are you happy with your performances?

Of course I am happy. It feels that I am going back to my level after a period where I played below my best. I think my form is returning.

I interviewed bubble during the first day of the event, and he said that the goal is to be in the top 10 by the end of the year. Do you think it is possible?

Of course it is possible, and FURIA is the perfect example of that. They were pretty good in Dallas, after that they went to ECS and all of a sudden they were in the top five. Two tournaments. Of course it is possible. Our goal is to reach the top 10 and everyone knows that.

You are having a great year. A few weeks ago, people started talking about the possibility of you joining a team like FaZe or mousesports. How do you feel when you see rumors like that? Do you think such a move is possible?

Of course it is possible, like it is possible for any other player. If players grow they will go somewhere else if they need to. In the beginning, when my name was being mentioned for this or that team, it was perfect for me, it boosted my motivation so much. Right now, it is good but it is not the same feeling.

Do you see CeRq as an example you want to follow?

CeRq is a big name in Bulgaria. He was the first guy to go international in CS:GO. He is a good example.
