Liquid knock out MIBR to set up quarter-final meeting with Astralis

Liquid have knocked out MIBR following a 2-0 win in Group B's lower bracket final (Mirage 16-13, Dust2 16-9) to advance to the quarter-finals, where they will meet Astralis.

Having defeated HellRaisers and North in close series earlier in the day, Liquid and MIBR were set to face each other for a spot in the playoffs in Group B's lower bracket final.

The Brazilians picked Mirage and got off to a good start on the CT side with a pistol round win, while a 1v3 clutch from Marcelo "coldzera" David pushed them to a 3-0 lead. With just a pistol buy, Liquid quickly equalized things and began to gain control of the half, only giving up three more en route to a 9-6 halftime score.

Twistzz's lightning-fast 1v4 on Dust2 set up Liquid for the win

MIBR clawed back to even ground after taking the economic advantage in an early back-and-forth forcebuy battle, but a 1v2 clutch from Keith "NAF" Markovic, who caught the bomb in B apartments in the last 15 seconds, saw Liquid pull away again. Epitacio "TACO" de Melo's great play in the last few rounds of the match made the opening map nearly go the full distance, but the North American team eventually sealed the deal at 16-13 with a couple of convincing defenses on each site.

Moving on to Dust2, the two teams fought tooth-and-nail in the first half, with MIBR's second-round forcebuy win helping them gain the edge early on an eventually get away with a one-round lead before switching to the defense despite Liquid at one point looking like the stronger side in full weapon rounds, as they took advantage of rotations with timely B executes.

Once on the Terrorist side, Liquid set up a dominant finish to the series on the back of a pistol round victory and two individual plays, including a flashy 1v4 clutch from Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken and Jake "Stewie2K" Yip's quad-kill and 1v2 on the B bombsite. MIBR could only find one round on the defense, courtesy of Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's ace with the AWP, as the North Americans cruised to a 16-9, 2-0 victory.

Felps isn’t the problem it’s outdated tactics and players who don’t listen to there coach and are to stubborn to adapt the way they play and unfortunately they will always be mediocre till they learn to adapt

I don't really think that is the problem. Fallen is an excellent igl and zews is one of the best coaches in the world. Seems they are very insconsintent and the team is not fitting well. Felps and Coldzera are having problems, Fer is felling he doesn't play for nothing... The have to change things in a big way or they will get down and down until the major

In my opinion fallen is the absolute problem because him and fer are very arrogant and in the past have been known to ignore what their coach says in favor of there own opinion (when ynk was the coach for example) and this arrogance is why they kicked taco when taco is one of the most valuable support players in the world and took liquid to the top 3 consistently. So the blame lays on the way the team is being structured and we know Zews can structure a team so I have to blame fallen for the slump they have had since 2018

they dont need to fill taco and felps spots to covering holes, mistakes or lack of commitment just because the mibr is not working well as a team. Furia need to stick together with a united mentality (dont make any sense in my humble opinion to couple of players go to mibr if furia is getting stronger and developing well together, they are a totally new generation and they have a lot of time do grow as players)

This mibr lineup besides felps problems or taco you can clearly see there are problems with decisions, this isn't 2016-2017 fallen anymore ok but in some rounds they has been looking soooo lost. just look at that 1vs4 at B by Twistzz, mistakes like that are ridiculous to make at that level I wish them the best and I think they need to work in their agression and decisions back when they were on top they had some nice teamplay to be able to win rounds It's been a long time but I always want to see them in the top again with Liquid, Astralis, ENCE fighting for the top Also It must be so frustrating to do changes and see how nothing improves

mibr is in a strange position After coldzera's interview, seems like they want change someone in this roster, but I dont see clear candidates to replace felps (I dont think they will kick TACO again). The first and second option would be yurihh and kscerato from FURIA, but FURIA has budget to retain both the third option should be kNg, but everyone knows that NOAH doesn't want work with him. boltz is in a terrible form since 2017 and is unlikely he backs the third time Who's left ? trk (team oNe) - The biggest BR promise years ago didn't show up, he's playing poorly lately chelo - good player, but he's like felps version 2.0, he needs space and play more a pug style, he doesn't fit in this lineup... If a would pick someone, I would pick trk, but is very unclear If it will work or not

Keep calm, the fan of a t20 team is talking about players that have more history than their entire team. Just don't talk shit when you can't even tell anything

I think it's more Coldzera's hard head, he doesn't seem to like changes so he stay the same way he played before and everybody study him, and blocking him easily

I think it's funny that fallen and others just assumed that this lineup would be able to play up to their former level. They are getting wrecked now rofl

I don't know what fnx does these days, but I just wish MIBR picked up fnx back when they only had 4, rather than picking up felps again. They knew felps didn't fit in the first time, but they wanted to try it again. Felps is a good player, but he just doesn't fit MIBR's playstyle. That's just my opinion. As much as I like Liquid, I still want other top teams like MIBR to succeed.

I'd like to say that, and in the past, I honestly believed he was a vital player for MIBR back in the old days, when they were on...was it SK or Luminosity Gaming? My memory is a bit foggy.

I think everyone is right ... but my opinion is that fallen you because you have old habits can hardly change your strategies, just like a former employee of a company. Because I think that idea always worked.
