CeRq: "I think it is good for a team to be loud and huddle before matches"

We spoke to Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov following NRG's win over INTZ, which saw the North Americans secure a spot at the StarLadder Major.

NRG cruised through the Americas Minor, not dropping a single map at the event and picking up a dominant 2-0 victory over INTZ in the upper-bracket final of the tournament.

CeRq is enjoying a more lively atmosphere in NRG

Following NRG's final match before the player break, we spoke to CeRq about the lead-up to the Minor, the atmosphere in the team, and going back home.

Before this event you had BLAST LA and you lost to FaZe over there in the playoffs, how did you assess that tournament as a team before coming here?

We didn't really think about it too much. With Peter (stanislaw), we had probably less than a week of practice, and we plugged him into daps' roles and just played. We played the same way as before, we haven't changed anything. He is probably not as comfortable as he says he is, so we didn't really think about it too much. We reviewed it obviously, we fixed our mistakes and that is pretty much it. We try to fix the small mistakes and keep our head in the game for the Minors because we shouldn't miss the Major.

Touching on that, obviously you had that Minor where you failed to go through, and also the last Major didn't go as expected. So what was the team talk like before this, to avoid similar mishaps at this Minor?

We are not talking about that at all. [laughs] We have already forgotten about it and we were coming back to make it through the playoffs this time.

One of the teams you played against here was FURIA, and you have a 9-2 map record against them. What makes it so easy for you guys against them, why are you so comfortable?

I don't know, we treat them like any other team. I think they are a little bit in their own heads, saying that we know how they play. I don't know, we just play our game, anti-strat a little bit of course, and everything goes as planned.

You played another Brazilian team here, INTZ, Train started with some crazy clutches, tarik pulled off one, you almost pulled off that 1v5. Tell me a bit about the early game on Train.

I don't really remember that much, I just remember it was really back and forth, we won five rounds in row, then they won five, then we won five more. It was just a lot of clutches, we did some mistakes, they did some mistakes, but we were just happy we won the half.

We actually saw you guys getting pretty excited, pretty loud here, I think it was the first time I saw your team yelling. How did that come into play? Did the other team being loud inspire you to do so as well?

Honestly, I brought this up a lot of times, even when daps was in the team, or when Fugly was in the team, that I think it is good for a team to be loud and huddle before matches, I feel like that gives you the adrenaline before the match. After the groups here we got into the practice room and we were talking about it and after that, we started huddling, everyone was down for it. After that, it just naturally came that we started yelling as well. I don't know if it was because we wanted to beat the opposite team, I'm pretty sure every team here was yelling, we have been playing Brazilians only and they are very passionate about the game and they yell. I like that, to be honest. If we keep doing that I think we will step up a lot. It just brings a lot to the team atmosphere.

So you have a player break coming up, going home back to Bulgaria. Has being in North America for so long become kind of a toll on you or have you become used to it by now?

Nah, that is where I live now. I don't even remember Bulgaria, when I went back last winter, I went to my house and I looked around, there is so much new stuff, I don't even remember living there. It is whatever, America is my second home now as I spend most of my time here, it is all good now but I'm happy to go home.

What is the plan for the next couple of weeks coming into the Major?

We are going to take a little break from CS and then we are going to bootcamp for 10 days before the Major. And then hopefully we go far in the Major, that is the plan.

That's not my point. My point is that everyone has shortcomings. S1mple have acne , so what? *haha lets laugh haha*. Some people are skinny , some fat , some really tall , some really short. Should we all be the same ? Why should guardian / cerq and so on hit the gym "more often" ? What makes you think they all want to be "pashabiceps" , fit , muscular , blabla? "however most fat people are able to do something about it but theyre just lazy" in that sense : everyone is able to be the best in cs , swimming , basketball , football. So you're just lazy to be the best player in CSGO ? *HA HA HA HA HA* Why are you so lazy , man?

being fat is just really bad for your health im not saying you are obligated to do something about it but its best for your health compared to being best at cs not affecting your health.

Well , the ftard can say it in more polite way. He was clearly making fun of his weight. Does a fat person want to be fat , does ugly person want to be ugly , does a skinny dude want to be skinny? Making fun of other based on his shortcomings is pathetic and makes him look insecure af.

Some more excuses ? You're laughing at people weight , skinny boy. So im laughing at your shortcomings/insecurities as well , cuz why not. Thats what your sad life is all about , making fun of someone because thats the only thing you are better at than them. Show us your beautiful face and fit body , big boy. I'd love to rate you. It's pointless arguing with you as your IQ is lower than my sineP size.

I like Cerq's attitude. It seems positive and in-game it seems like he has fun, and ultimately to play on a pro team, get paid to do it, and enjoy it.. is all a person needs. Good for him!

I mean he is saying the truth. As a person who lives outside of Bulgaria and only comes back as a tourist during the summer and Christmas you can feel the difference. Abroad everything is set up for you, you need to worry for a lot less things and when I come back for these 2-3 months I can feel all the shit happening, I constantly have to worry about shit, the government destroying businesses (small shops and organizations are crushed by the mafia) and letting criminals run around unpunished. But at the end of the day Bulgaria is my one true home and the people are a lot better here (almost no sad thots, almost all the girls are like bros and a lot less snakes in the grass), the nature is beautiful, especially for someone like me who spends plenty of time in the mountain and the historical and cultural places are plentiful (you might ask what about partying, but no life criminals run those places and one wrong move and someone will stab you so I rarely go there). If the country wasn't corrupt and all the money the government takes from us were actually used for good I would be happy to live in Bulgaria all my life. Still he talks as if he doesn't give a fuck about his motherland.

A really common thing is you have some large group of people bring a girl and if an outsider starts talking to her, the said group start beating you up. You insult some retard he is gonna camp you in front of the club and stab you or fight you pls trust me I've had to fight 4 gypsies at once over a glass of cuba libre.

Where u live in Bulgara? Rly... The 2nd sentence of my post is "As a person who lives outside of Bulgaria and only comes back as a tourist during the summer and Christmas". Learn to read pls. but to answer your question im 18 and every 2 weeks or so, i go in a different place and visit at least 1 disco (last week and a half i was in Veliko Tarnovo and am now at my village helping my grandma for a week) A personal example (I only have 2 rly) was getting me and my romanian friends getting kicked out of Gotham Club in Sofia, while we went to see F.O.. We payed 30 leva entry fee each and were asked to buy some shitty vodka (i dont like vodka in general). A friend of mine drank it all by himself, cuz he likes vodka. Then the bouncers kicked us out and called us all gypsies even though we were A LOT whiter than them. At least we didn't get beat up hard. a little tip if you go to Pleven never say you are not from there (especially from Sofia). It's possible they beat you up for no reason)

Yo Bulgarians, he said > America is my second home now as I spend most of my time here, it is all good now but I'm happy to go home. How does that imply he hates Bulgaria lol? I noticed the other guy was quoting him saying "America is my first home now" but that's not what the interview says.
