HellRaisers confirm StarLadder Major line-up

HellRaisers have formally unveiled the line-up with which they will be attending the upcoming StarLadder Major.

Žygimantas "⁠nukkye⁠" Chmieliauskas, HellRaisers' most recent addition, was registered as a coach/reserve player and will replace Bence "⁠DeadFox⁠" Böröcz, who has been on the bench since March.

This means that HellRaisers will be playing in Berlin without a coach behind them as Sergey "⁠lmbt⁠" Bezhanov was not part of the line-up submitted to Valve.

nukkye will attend the Major with HellRaisers

This is not the first time that a team has listed an active player as a coach to bend the rules enforcing a line-up to retain the majority of the roster that competed at the previous Major in order to hold on to the spot at the next Valve-sponsored competition. Earlier this year, Cloud9 registered Jordan "⁠Zellsis⁠" Montemurro as a coach for the IEM Katowice Major, only to move him into the starting lineup for the tournament to replace Maikil "⁠Golden⁠" Selim, who was unable to attend the event due to health reasons.

HellRaisers, who are currently ranked 32nd in the world, will compete in the New Challengers Stage of the StarLadder Major after finishing in 12th-14th place in Katowice, where they were defeated by FaZe, Ninjas in Pyjamas and Cloud9 in the New Legends stage.

Kyrylo "⁠ANGE1⁠" Karasiow and Issa "⁠ISSAA⁠" Murad are the only remaining players from the line-up that played in Katowice. Özgür "⁠woxic⁠" Eker was in March transferred to MOUZ, while Abay "⁠HObbit⁠" Khassenov and DeadFox were both benched by the organisation.

HellRaisers will attend the Major with:

DeadFox is on the submitted roster with nukkye as coach, but he will play making use of the rule that allowed Zews to play on MIBR. So they kinda of had the 3 man core, but actually don't. I don't like it too much tbh, zews was fine but they're bending the rulebook too much with this.

Yeah they kind of abused that new rule

I'm sure Starladder was aware of this tho, the new rule was surely just made to help them and the br guys. But MIBR case is fair, while HR is doing just what Majors have been trying to avoid for so many years. Hopefully they won't go out 0-3 and prove they deserved that spot, otherwise it would make everything look even worse.

It's quite easy to see why, MIBR has 4 guys from the previous major and the coach that they wanted to use and don't bring someone else. Meanwhile HR has no coach and 3 new players. CSGO Majors are around the idea that the players keep the spot they earn and not the orgs. That's something most of the community always praised from Valve Majors, you should earn your place in the server. HR is making use of a rule to be on the Major despite this roster never earning the right to be there, MIBR won their spot playing CS. I don't blame HR tho, any team would have done the same if they could. Starladder is at fault here letting them break the spirit of the Major, I'm sure they were aware that HR was going to do this.

They did by listing one of the new players as coach. With that, they then replaced deadfox with the player listed as the coach so they won't have their coach behind them

I just read that a few seconds ago, so basically now if you have only 2 players that played a major before, you can still maintain the spot, this is a joke Don't get me wrong, it's cool that eventually they get to play the at the major, but still roster rules are an absolute joke at this point.

I'm honestly kinda glad that the roster rules were broken here. I get that it's stupid and unfair and whatever, but the major will be more competitive and enjoyable this way! If we had a trash stand in roster instead with BotFox, it would suck. Now, it will be enjoyable and oskar can rekt some noobs

It's the coach reserve swap, something StarLadder initially intended to prevent but recently allowed. The rules weren't broken I guess, but they were changed and inevitably many people will complain because they will see a real roster and not a stand in roster lul.

I don't think the player coach swap is bad. It's bad when it's like this, that you didn't keep 3/5 on the roster.

Yeah, I guess brazilian viewership is too big. Before it was only in case of emergency like visa issues or health conditions with proofs, so HR supposed to play with Hobbit or DeadFox, since only Issa can possibly have visa issues and it's still 2/5, and that's if we're considering that before September his visa expires. Basically, StarLadder made possible to pull a Cloud9 in the last moment. This also explains to me why HR weren't using their coach and timeouts in most cases.
