DreamEaters weigh up options in light of coach removal

The future of the DreamEaters roster is currently unclear following the removal of coach Aleksandr "⁠zoneR⁠" Bogatiryev, team member Svyatoslav "⁠svyat⁠" Dovbakh has told HLTV.org.

DreamEaters announced on Saturday via Twitter that zoneR was no longer part of the squad, ending an 11-month association with the Russian coach.

The 32-year-old had overseen a spectacular rise in the fortunes of the Russian team, who had broken into the top 20 in the rankings after reaching the New Legends Stage of the StarLadder Major, their first-ever tournament of this stature.

According to svyat, zoneR's departure was the organisation's decision and was not welcomed by the players, who do not rule out the possibility of moving to seek pastures new in light of this sudden move.

"It was not a team decision," the Russian in-game leader told HLTV.org. "Sasha (zoneR) had had differences with the organisation that had been on-going for a while, and only just came to a peak.

"The roster tried to abstract itself from this situation, but when it came to his removal, we couldn't stand aside and we are currently assessing our future opportunities. The issue is that the removal of any member of the roster can have serious implications outside of the game, in this specific case. It could disrupt the psychological component of the team and impact the unity we have developed over the year.

I am not saying we are leaving the organisation. We are currently weighing up our options and assessing how to act in this situation."

The coach's departure comes at an unfortunate time for the squad, as DreamEaters are currently contesting in the group playoffs of the European Champions Cup and have two more tournaments coming up: WePlay! Forge of Masters Season 2 and DreamHack Open Rotterdam.
