Valens parts ways with Cloud9

Soham "⁠valens⁠" Chowdhury, who has been with Cloud9 since February of 2017, has parted ways with the organization.

valens stepped down from his coaching role on Cloud9 in July to become more involved with the organization's analytical division, and has now decided to fully part ways with the team. The 30-year-old originally joined the organization in February of 2017 and most notably coached the Cloud9 lineup that won the ELEAGUE Major in 2018.

valens' transition to the analyst role saw James "⁠JamezIRL⁠" Macaulay take over as coach and Cloud9 entirely revamp their roster. Apart from their debut at BLAST Pro Series Los Angeles 2019, which saw them place 4th on home soil, Cloud9 has struggled to perform.

In the statement that Cloud9 released, valens didn't specify whether or not he would be joining a new team anytime soon, but did note that he is open to any business inquiries revolving around his coaching or analyst role.

"Coaching was actually supposed to be a temporary position for me but it turned into something greater. We won the Major, we had roster issues, we lost out at the minor qualifiers, and we started again from scratch."
