nak: "I condemn bit's decision"

HLTV.org sat down with FireGamers' talent Renato "nak" Nakano to discuss the recent changes to the team.

Made in Brazil announced on Sunday they had signed Bruno "bit" Fukuda from FireGamers, bringing back their former captain after he had been released from the team in December.

Such move left FireGamers with a four-man roster ahead of the Brazilian WCG qualifier and urgently in need of a new player.

In the interview you can find below, Renato "nak" Nakano comments on Fukuda's departure and reveals who their new fifth player might be.

How did you learn that bit was going to move to mibr and what was your team's reaction to that decision?

We discovered bit was going to join mibr through prd, who told us he had been kicked and that bit was going to join... then we called bit and he confirmed it. It really was a huge surprise, we could not believe it was really happening... we are obviously outraged at his departure, but what can we do...

How is the morale at FireGamers right now?

We will continue practicing... but now even more confident, knowing the weakness that mibr have demonstrated... from what I heard from prd himself and from others that are close to mibr, they were afraid to lose the WCG qualifier because they could not practice in Sweden, and because they can lose their sponsor if they do not win... and because of that nothing better than weaken their main opponent and invite bit in. Those are just rumours I heard, but which make total sense to me.

Have your team decided who your fifth player will be?

It will probably be prd.

You just lost your captain shortly before a big tournament to your biggest rival. How big of a setback is that?

Now the team are back at square one, as bit knows all of our tactics. But we will try to train as well as we can for the WCG qualifier.

Did you consider the FireGamers team (with bit) better than mibr's (with prd)?

Yes, absolutely. At KODE5 Brazil, for which mibr trained intensively in Sweden and FG trained only in Brazil, we could see that. Even though mibr walked out with the victory, those were very close games and we were a lot worse prepared.

And now that bit has moved to mibr and you will probably bring in prd?

In my opinion, mibr have improved and FG have obviously become weaker, but I have not played with prd yet, I could be wrong.

In November, you left mibr for FireGamers, claiming you believed FG were a better team, with more potential and where you had friends of yours. After bit's departure, do you regret your decision?

I do not regret it, mibr had not been doing well in tournaments abroad for a while. And I still believe FG were better than mibr and bit himself knows that. It is too bad the salary and the trip to Chengdu played such a big role in his decision.

Do you condemn bit's decision?

Absolutely. We had this goal which was to beat mibr and get sponsors for the team... and when mibr were showing a weakness by kicking prd, bit decided to abandon the team without thinking twice. I agree that one has to go where he can have salary and trips, but FG's plans was exactly to win the WCG qualifier and get those things, and bit preferred not to take a chance and join mibr, afraid to lose the qualifier and get nothing, even though he knew our team were better... leaving the four of us with nothing... When I left mibr I put aside the salary and the trips to get that with FG (where I thought I could trust everyone) and when we are the closest to getting those things he abandons us.

If mibr had invited you instead of bit, what would you have told them?

Obviously 'no'.

Cogu himself recently said he will retire from gaming after this season. Are you afraid you might lose one more player for mibr?

A lot of things could happen before the end of the year... You cannot know.

Several months have passed and FireGamers continue without a big sponsor. Do you feel the WCG qualifier will be your last chance?

I guess so, because it will be the last tournament of the year in Brazil.

If things do not work out at the qualifier, what will be the future of the team?

It will depend on the future of CS in Brazil... if qualifiers for the big competitions continue rolling, then we will stay active.

It will be funny when cogu retires and nak takes an invite to rejoin mibr to take his place. I dont condemn bit's decision. The reason they have been playing this game for so long is to make money, and nak said that the attraction of a salary and major sponsors was enough for bit, but it is a decision most pros would make over a non salaried team with no sponsors. GL to both teams and I cant wait to watch the rematch.

offcourse that is "acceptable" , but the timing dude, the timing ;p all the taccs, all praccing, the igl, the relationship, possibly the future of FG itself is at stake now.. ps: il definitly watch FG vs mibr, i hope Nak oneshots bit so many times, win the match. And since mibr orga has more money and ambition, ttheyl kick the current 5 mibr lineup and swap them with FG, becoming the new mibr. after this drama i think its a plausible situation lol

yes... mibr spend 120 thousand reais about 75 thousand dollars (players salary, travels, hotels, etc) for year as Paulo Velozo(mibr's organization owner) told on the mibr web site according with the last years when mibr used to play in all big events and make bootcamp at sweden. For sure the sponsors help him too. ;)

mmmickie, because they are only 2 top teams in brazil FG and mibr that can beat themselves right? and the teams wont practice together showing their tatics. Which team in brazil that mibr can practice their tatics instead of FG, no one. In sweden they have a lil help from Inferno Online where big/meddium teams go there to practice, so mibr can test their tatics on those teams knowing that they wont see those teams in a big event in the future. FG wants to win a big event in brazil to go abroad and show their potencial if it's happen mibr may lose sponsors and players, mibr wont make the things easier to FG. All people know that brazil has only one spot for big tournaments in euro like WCG/KODE5/ESWC/etc Did u get it know?

That's what happens when a great team gets split up. cogu, bit, nak, fnx, and btt were great together. They may have not been the best lineup in mibr's history to some people, but mibr lost 3 great players, Firegamers only lost one player. mibr had to rebuild their team a lot more that FG does, however the timing does suck. When you have a lot of players who are hungry to compete for brazil, and a limited amount of money going into the organizations, things get competitive, GL to both teams.

also you can blame kiko for screwing up all of brazil's top lineups. no it wasn't fair for bit to leave FG, but it definately wasn't fair for kiko to cut bit so he could play for mibr. he performed so badly that he was cut after 1 tournament(kiko).
