Evil Geniuses through to Group A upper bracket final over 100 Thieves

Evil Geniuses have ensured themselves a playoff berth in Odense following a 2-0 victory over 100 Thieves in the Group A upper bracket semi-final.

Evil Geniuses and 100 Thieves entered their first best-of-three bout following wins over fnatic and HEROIC, respectively, in their opening matchups. A one-sided scoreline for Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz's side against the Swedes was one that Evil Geniuses emulated as the series against the Australians got underway, locking 100 Thieves out of Mirage for the first eleven rounds despite a number of multi-kills from Justin "jks" Savage.

100 Thieves finally cracked through the EG defense in round 12, adding three to their tally off the back of a 1vs3 clutch from Jay "Liazz" Tregillgas. A pistol win following the side swap, alongside a four-kill round by Sean "Gratisfaction" Kaiwai, allowed 100 Thieves to close the gap by an additional four rounds for a 12-7 scoreline. A comeback was not on the cards however, as Evil Geniuses only conceded one additional round to a quad kill from Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad before closing the map 16-8.

Brehze and company have secured themselves a playoffs berth

Another pistol victory for 100 Thieves kicked off their defensive effort on Nuke, but Tarik "tarik" Celik and Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte combined on a pistol force-buy to put Evil Geniuses back in control. The North American roster held control from there, running up an 8-2 lead before 100 Thieves finally broke through, winning three rounds of their own thanks in part to four frags with an AWP from Gratisfaction. Left with just pistols in their hands, Evil Geniuses were able to once again turn the tides, with Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov finding a quad kill of his own to grant his team a 10-5 lead heading into the side swap.

An early burst on the A site gave 100 Thieves their third pistol round win of the series, seeing them reduce the deficit to 10-8 before EG could reply with a trio of rounds to pull ahead once again. Although 100 Thieves won two to put EG on an eco, a loss to the pistols of Ethan "Ethan" Arnold and tarik swung momentum back into the favour of the North American side to help them close the series with a 16-10 map victory, setting up a clash against Natus Vincere for a spot in the semi-finals.

EG look put back together. Good on Stan for getting his team ready in such a short period of time. Guy doesn't get much credit around here so credit where it's due. 100T aren't a slouch team.

Well, this is HLTV after all... it's much easier making fun of teams/players, rather than give credit where it's due. EG made it to top4 at ECS, and that's with losing 2-1 to Astralis, if they were on the other side of the bracket, they could've reached the final at the least. But still, people considered top4 a bad (?) result for some reason. Go figure...

hltv/cs;go scene is swarmed by lil 12 years old kids who think that only first place is good. Anything else is "trash" or "garbage". Even if the grand finals would be head to head, second team is still "garbage". These people are the loudest so thats why you see it the most :(
