dupreeh: "Liquid play Inferno in a way that we're not used to, in a way no other team does"
As the player of the match between Astralis and Liquid, Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen gave us some quick thoughts on the Danes' sixth consecutive victory against the North American team and on his own performance.
Having defeated Liquid on Nuke twice in December already, it was clear the Danes would pick it again in the series, but this time they found the opening map more difficult than before as the two teams were tied at 11-11 with Astralis on a halfbuy.
An unexpected victory there saw the map swing towards the Danish team, with dupreeh noting the importance of the round when we asked him about it after the match. "Every time when you have a situation when you have the same score, you know that you have to forcebuy, those rounds are extremely important. In hindsight, it was really important. It just puts you in such a better economy situation and also makes the opponents' mindset a lot worse."

As the match turned to Inferno, Astralis had a difficult time converting their 11-5 lead, with Liquid starting to turn it around with a forcebuy win. "We should have probably won the second round as Terrorists, but, unfortunately, I didn't get a kill that was really important," dupreeh told us.
"They started playing the way we have struggled against, they play this really passive way in B and when we go B we think there has to be someone in site, but no they're not, they're using their utility extremely well and they're just really good at retaking. It just puts us in really awkward situations in so many ways. We just can't win against that. They play Inferno in a way that we're not used to and also in a way that other teams aren't doing against us."
Nonetheless, following a fantastic Nuke performance, dupreeh helped close out Inferno, ending the map with 33 kills to secure the series 2-0. "Sometimes when you kill 33 people you get a lot of easier frags and sometimes you get a lot of rotation frags. It's device and Magisk on banana who made some really great entries and that makes my position on the other side of the map a lot easier. I can play off the rotations, I can catch guys who are unaware. But, obviously, killing 33 people is always a good thing. Everything just clicked for me today."
