MAD Lions advance to playoffs in Sevilla over Illuminar

MAD Lions secured a spot in the DreamHack Open Sevilla semi-finals having bested Illuminar 16-4 on Vertigo.

The newly-signed roster of MAD Lions sought to impress in their debut tournament on the organisation's home soil, as Nicolai "⁠HUNDEN⁠" Petersen and his men took on the Polish squad of Illuminar in the group B Winners' match of DreamHack Open Sevilla. The squads faced off on Vertigo, with advancement to the semi-finals of the $100,000 event on the line.

roeJ and sjuush led the team to victory sharing a 1.65 rating on Vertigo

Starting on the offense, Illuminar managed to convert the pistol round, running into issues immediately after, as consistent aggression from MAD Lions caught the Poles off guard.

Down 1-6, Oskar "⁠oskarish⁠" Stenborowski and company were close to securing their second conversion of the half, but a masterful 1v2 from Rasmus "⁠sjuush⁠" Beck ensured further snowballing for the Danes. Dominance persisted well into the latter stages of the half, with Illuminar managing to quadruple their standing at 4-11 prior to half time.

Lucas "⁠Bubzkji⁠" Andersen expedited Illuminar's demise by landing a Glock triple kill to secure the second pistol round for his team. Well-executed A ramp hits from the Danes ensured map point and subsequent victory, as MAD Lions concluded Vertigo with a dominant 16-4 score.

Yeah i'm sure they would do well, with such regularity on 100.000$ i don't see them getting outplayed on an upper echelon. They would (at least that's what i think) take lots of rounds against almost every opponents and likely some wins as well.

Yeah i didn't remember that event but 3 big names (i know VP is a big name but i meant Mouz, MIBR and NiP, i don't remember exactly these teams exact's forms at the time but for sure dangerous TEAMS), huge accomplishment for them indeed. EDIT : for sure dangerous teams* (not events lul)
