mirbit joins ALTERNATE aTTaX; ScrunK takes charge as coach

ALTERNATE aTTaX have announced that Sabit "⁠mirbit⁠" Coktasar has been added to the starting lineup, while Robin "⁠ScrunK⁠" Röpke has been named the new head coach.

mirbit will fill the spot left vacant by Mateusz "⁠mantuu⁠" Wilczewski, who opted to further his career in OG after almost a year with ALTERNATE aTTaX. With the British sniper gone, the German team fielded Bernardus "⁠Bernard⁠" Stornebrink in their final two tournaments of 2019, the ESL Meisterschaft Winter Finals and the 99Damage League Season 13 final, finishing in second place in both competitions.

ALTERNATE aTTaX's newest player is mostly known for his time with Sprout, whom he helped to qualify for the ESL Pro League and to reach the final at Copenhagen Games 2019 and Charleroi Esports. After leaving the team in the summer, he joined Windigo, but his tenure with the squad was short-lived as the Ukrainian organisation ceased all operations at the end of October.

mirbit will be filling mantuu's shoes on ALTERNATE aTTaX

ScrunK is no stranger to coaching, having guided North American outfits Team Coast and FollowEsports.com back in 2015. He went back to playing in 2016 and made deep runs into several domestic tournaments with different teams, even picking up two LAN titles in 2018 with expert.

I was thinking about it too, and I have several possible conclusions: 1. They are very well-developed so people care less about games in terms of pro scene, than less developed/rich countries. 2. They have amazing players, but they are mixing and shaking their rosters too often and with wrong order, in my opinion. i don't think the german scene is really big, it's been mostly the same names since the start of csgo. there is hardly any young upcoming players. most of the scene is made up of casual players who lack any motivation to put in the hours to go professional, why that is i don't know. maybe it's a cultural thing involving other socio-economic factors, same could be said about the UK probably. where as in 1.6 germany could be placed in the top3 of competitive countries, they always had teams competing for top placements in tournaments, a very competitive national scene with many semi-pro teams who could challenge the best and always talented players to pick up. why that didn't translate into csgo i have no idea, most names quit the game when csgo came out or even before already. although the german scene was already falling apart in the last years of 1.6, i guess the interest in the game wasn't that big anymore and younger players chose to play different games.
