BIG defeat Virtus.pro; North overrun Sprout in DH Leipzig openers

In the first matches at DreamHack Open Leipzig BIG picked up a strong victory over Virtus.pro (Inferno 16-8), while Sprout suffered a one-sided loss to North (Dust2 16-4) on home soil.

A 3-1 lead from Virtus.pro on Inferno as CT was a good start for the side from Kazakhstan, but Ismailcan "⁠XANTARES⁠" Dörtkardeş' double started BIG's strong run as Terrorists. The Germans exploited their opponents' passive defenses and bullied their way to a strong half-time score, finishing 10-5 up after Tizian "⁠tiziaN⁠" Feldbusch's closing knife kill on Dzhami "⁠Jame⁠" Ali.

tabseN showed great form in the opening match in Leipzig

Virtus.pro's star player Jame combined with Dauren "⁠AdreN⁠" Kystaubayev to win a 2v3 in the second-half pistol to bring the score back to 10-8, before BIG' first buy round on the CT side. Aleksei "⁠Qikert⁠" Golubev and co. opted for executes towards the A site in the next two rounds, but with the help of Johannes "⁠tabseN⁠" Wodarz, BIG managed to thwart their approaches. The German in-game leader continued his form for the rest of the match, finishing with a 1.74 rating in a one-sided, 16-8 victory for BIG.

The other German representative in Leipzig, Sprout, did not have a similar start on their home soil. In North's first official match since Mathias "⁠MSL⁠" Lauridsen's return, the Danes grabbed a 4-0 lead before Sprout's newcomers Paweł "⁠dycha⁠" Dycha and Tomáš "⁠oskar⁠" Šťastný stepped up to bring the score back to 4-3. However, the Terrorist side from North was simply too hard to deal with for Timo "⁠Spiidi⁠" Richter's team as they were picked apart by the Danes and finished the defensive half of Dust2 11-4 down.

Sprout lost the second pistol round as well and couldn't convert a 2v2 in the first buy round as Terrorists (14-4), leaving North with a simple task of closing out the game, which was made even easier with Nicklas "⁠gade⁠" Gade great fragging. The final score was a resounding 16-4.
