DreamHack Open Anaheim groups and initial matchups announced

DreamHack has announced the group distribution and opening matchups of the upcoming Open stop in Anaheim, California.

The $100,000 tournament features teams from all over the spectrum, with the highest-ranked side being ENCE at No.11, who will be looking to get back on their feet following an underwhelming showing at ICE Challenge at the beginning of February.

Meanwhile, Endpoint bring out the rear as an organization who controversially retained their spot at the event, having won ESL Premiership Winter with their previous lineup, which only Max "MiGHTYMAX" Heath was a part of out of the current five.

ENCE are looking to improve on their poor ICE Challenge showing

The Finns have been placed in Group B, where they are joined by MIBR and two constellations that were put together at the end of last year in Complexity and Gen.G, for whom the Open stop will also be the first LAN tournament with Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand and Sam "s0m" Oh.

On the other side, FURIA are the leading name in Group A, which also features North — freshly back under Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen's leadership as of mid-January —, FORZE, and Endpoint.

The groups are distributed as follows:

The following matchups will be played in the opening round of the group stage:

Brazil FURIA vs. United Kingdom Endpoint
Denmark North vs. Russia FORZE

Brazil MIBR vs. Europe Complexity
Finland ENCE vs. United States Gen.G

DreamHack Open Anaheim will run from February 21-23 at the Anaheim Convention Center. The tournament will begin with a GSL group stage before moving on to the single-elimination playoffs bracket.

Apart from the $100,000 prize purse, a direct ticket to DreamHack Masters Jönköping and points in the ESL Pro Tour will be on offer.

Mate, stop looking at ranks, you don't know how to make a nice comparation, you look only by ranks, mibr is fucked up like ence, if we make a comparation with ranks just like you your post is wrong, cuz complexity #44 North #23

I know what u mean. But ranking means alot actually (not everything i agree). Complexity is still #44 before they prove to be better and next week they are better. Ence is still #11 even tho they lose to some worse teams. They have won some games against good teams aswell. But u cant say team A is better than B if A just wins against B. U need to compare all matches they play and allaround form not just few matches. Example u cant say OG is better than ENCE. No, they are not, atleast not yet. They need to play more against tier 1/2 teams and prove it. And forZe could be better than ENCE (atleast for now) and FURIA could be better than MIBR if they just play more, but thats not the case RN. We will see how things turn around. But my point is that rankings tells alot. Atleast hltv ranking.

well, to me the rankings aren't important, to me what is important is the phase right now, if u see the season of 2019 you will see that furia is much better than mibr and ence isn't the same thing without aleksib, but we only will see who is better in the lans

??? not like b group is good. ence, mibr, geng all trash so far this year. Complexity has had one good match which they didn't even have had when this was seeded so how could they take that in count. Besides seems obvious they just used rankings to make seeding rather than someone deciding them, lets be real here, naturally it can make seedings random when there is newer teams that have barely played any events included, as their ranking is bound to be shit in comparison to their real level but that is just normal thing honestly.
