mithR leaves North

North have parted company with coach Torbjørn "⁠mithR⁠" Nyborg, the Danish organisation announced on Tuesday.

In a Twitter post, North thanked the 30-year-old for his service but did not give more details about the reason behind his dismissal.

mithR leaves North almost a year after being named as Alexander "⁠ave⁠" Holdt's replacement. During his time at the helm, he guided the team to victories at GG.BET Ice Challenge 2019 and DreamHack Open Sevilla.

The announcement comes just weeks after North crashed out of DreamHack Open Leipzig in the group stage following defeats to Danish rivals MAD Lions and HEROIC. This was the team's first tournament after the recent roster changes, which saw Mathias "⁠MSL⁠" Lauridsen return to the squad, replacing Jakob "⁠JUGi⁠" Hansen.

"I am unhappy with the decision, of course, since working with the team and its players had been the greatest honor of my life, despite 2019 not being a year with the best results," mithR wrote in a TwitLonger post.

"I have to accept the decision for what it is, and wish the organization, its staff, the board and the players the best and say goodbye.

"I look back at my time in North as a time in which I learned incredibly much about myself. A time in which I was challenged on my values as a coach, but also my preparation for events, tactical development and mental state of mind of being a professional.

"I am now standing on the other side of my journey in North as a stronger version of myself, knowing which challenges lie ahead and with all the possibility of becoming an even better coach who can help future players and teams performing as the best version of themselves."

North are slated to play at the upcoming DreamHack Open event in Anaheim, where they have been paired with FORZE, FURIA and Endpoint in Group A. The event will take place from February 21-23 and will have $100,000 on offer.
