Riot Squad part ways with team

Riot Squad and their CS:GO team have gone their separate ways, the organisation has announced.

In a TwitLonger post, the organisation explained that recent changes to the ESL Pro League qualification structure and the team's failure to qualify for the league through the previous season's MDL grand finals contributed towards a decision to "take a break and regroup on the sidelines."

Riot Squad entered CS:GO in June 2019 with the signing of Bad News Bears, a team that was, at the time, captained by Josh "⁠shinobi⁠" Abastado. After failing to advance past the quarter-final playoff round in ESEA NA MDL S31, the team made adjustments to their roster by signing Pujan "⁠FNS⁠" Mehta and Jonathan "⁠Jonji⁠" Carey.

Riot Squad were unable to earn promotion to ESL Pro League

That iteration of Riot Squad managed to qualify for the MSI MGA 2019 Finals, where they were eliminated in last place following narrow losses to ex-Epsilon and ViCi, as well as achieve a grand finals berth in ESEA NA MDL S32. Despite having defeated INTZ in the online portion of the double-elimination MDL playoffs, Riot Squad were unable to repeat the result against the Brazilians in the offline grand finals, resulting in them missing out on direct promotion to the ESL Pro League.

A runner-up finish to FORZE at ESEA MDL Global Challenge S32 was quickly soured after changes to the structure of ESL Pro League removed Relegation for EPL Season 11, leaving Riot Squad facing another season of MDL. Not longer after, FNS announced his departure from the team, with the roster since having added Michael "⁠Grim⁠" Wince to fill the gap.

Despite the release, Peter "⁠ptr⁠" Gurney and company have chosen to stick together, and will compete under the Bad News Bears tag as they prepare for the upcoming FLASHPOINT NA closed qualifier.

To all of the idiots who blame FNS, I beg you to tell me one achievement these NA MDL bots had before he made them good? They were SHIT without FNS, they couldn't beat EU Open teams without FNS.
