FURIA hammer Endpoint in DreamHack Anaheim opener

FURIA got off to a great start at DreamHack Open Anaheim with a convincing victory over Endpoint on Inferno.

The Brazilian team began the match slowly then moved into high gear, ending their first LAN game of 2020 in cruise control. It was the sort of start that a tournament favourite can wish for, against a fairly inexperienced side sitting outside the top 50 in the world rankings.

Despite the scale of the task ahead of them, Endpoint began the brighter of the two sides and romped to a 3-0 lead after dominating FURIA in the pistol round and in the first full gun rounds. But the cracks began to appear when the Brazilians got their first round on the board with nothing but pistols.

The rest of the half turned out to be a one-way street: FURIA out-fought their opponents, took map control with ease and capitalised on every single mistake that the CTs made (such as wasting a 5vs2 situation) to head into the break on double-digit territory.

Things went from bad to worse for Endpoint as they lost the pistol, but Robin "⁠robiin⁠" Sjögren - who had picked up a quad-kill in the opening half - sparked a reaction in his team with three Desert Eagle kills. There would be no follow-up, though, as FURIA responded immediately and put together a string of rounds to lock down the map.
