Gen.G edge out ENCE in Anaheim

Gen.G are through to Group B's winners' match at DreamHack Open Anaheim following a close Nuke victory over ENCE.

The Finnish side drop down to the group's lower bracket after a forgetful display against Gen.G, who celebrated their LAN debut in style by defeating the highest-ranked team in Anaheim. After a decent CT side display, ENCE looked disjointed in attack and lacked ideas to break down the home side, who will take on the winner of the match between MIBR and Complexity late on Friday for a spot in the playoffs.

ENCE got off to a strong start and surged to a 4-0 lead on their CT side, but they lost their grip on the game once Gen.G began to collect some rounds. With Hansel "⁠BnTeT⁠" Ferdinand leading the charge, the North Americans took over the economy control and brought the deficit to just two rounds, but then the Finnish team tightened up their defense and ended the half with a 10-5 advantage.

Gen.G took down ENCE in Anaheim

Aleksi "⁠allu⁠" Jalli's side carried that late momentum into the second half and further added to their lead after a bright start to their T side. However, the landscape of the game changed completely once Gen.G had money in the bank. ENCE struggled to break through the North Americans' compact defense and saw their opponents reach map point after a ten-round winning streak.

Jere "⁠sergej⁠" Salo still tried to rescue his team and push the game to overtime, but his efforts were in vain as Gen.G locked down the map in the final round of regulation to cause the first upset of the tournament and put the Finnish side on the brink of elimination in Anaheim.

This team will disband for sure, lets see who they will actually get to team, probably no one from Finland at least. No one of the Finnish players will join to team called "ENCE" apter the rape of Aleksib. It's also hard to say who paid them to the league, well, they will not be happy. At least I am very happy to bet for GenG. Good job there.

Indeed. This match proofs again that when tactics are needed, there is no IGL in the team. So sad for Finnish CS scene. RIP ENCE This all comes from the owners like lurppis and natu, they are still 100% stuck in oldschool Finnish scene. Too bad, Finnish scene needs new leaders, and sure new teams will start to appear after this disaster. Lets just be calm and wait for these players contracts to end.

Problem is that very old school ex-players as lurppis and natu owns a lot of shares, and they are actually running this as this would still be some Finnish 1.6 cs club (sorry for calling 1.6 teams as club, but compared to this day, that is what they were).. They are clearly not business men as we saw with this "rape" and handling media after that..

I mean, they did the scummy shitbag sign-a-new-contract-to-raise-buyout-thing right before Aleksi was benched, so obviously they have taken some notes on how NHL and NFL works. Also, their CEO is actually a real businessman. I have to agree with the PR point though, going from that upward trend (as a franchise) to this is unacceptable.
