x6tence eSports Club have announced that David "r1bera" Antón has decided to call time on his gaming career.

The Spanish veteran had been linked with retirement for some time, but the confirmation was made public this afternoon on x6tence's official website.

Antón, who had been at x6tence since September 2006, has decided to call it quits just ten days before completing this third year at the organisation.

During his time at x6tence, the former redCode man attended over 50 events, helping the team to a 9th-12th placing at ECG 2007 and a fifth-place finish at GameGune 2008, among others.

"After a lot of thinking, the moment to retire from Counter-Strike on a competitive level has come," Antón told x6tence's website. "It is time to make room for people with more motivation and higher ambitions.
"This club requires the maximum from every player and should have five players 100 per cent commited to put the club as high as possible, where it deserves to be.
"Currently I am not in this situation because I have other things in my mind that have a higher priority than Counter-Strike."

This decision leaves x6tence with a three-man roster, with the organisation confirming it will announce replacements for both Antón and Rafael "FeldmaN" Barroso, who quit the team last month, in the coming days.

Alberto "neptuNo" Molinillo

between unibet and x6tence can happens lot of changes of roster... there are lot of rumours, someone says flipin is gonna join unibet, and gummy and neptuno would return with rai and nany to make ex k1ck... who knows... I only hope that this doesnt mean the end of x6tence...

Its a shame to see him go. But I hate how pros always say things like 'higher priorities than Counter-Strike' or 'back to real life' when they retire. When you play Counter-Strike at a professional level it becomes your career. How successful you are in the career depends entirely on you. You don't tell your employer when you quit your job your going back to real life do you? Its just something really weird to say...

It's not only my opinion,but it's not the point.I respect hobbies of all people,so if you love esports and Cs,I don't care. But call it shame when r1bera wants to retire?Why?Because he wants to enjoy his life in different way?Loving girls,being with friends,be looking on some movies instead of playing for 12 ( !!!!! 12 ! sorry but that's fanaticism - I am playing max for 3-5 hours when I have time and I think it's too much ! ) hours ?It's not a shame,it's a decision. Maybe you'll sometime realize that games are only about to fun - ofc you'll got some money when you become successful,but it doesn't mean you have carrier - even f0rest or Neo or Sunde or I don't know who will stop playing :) It's your life,your desires,to play 12 h/day,but respect peoples opinions when they are interesting in something different than you.

Its what I choose. It is my life, my real life. Because its what I will enjoy doing for the rest of my life. I prefer CS by far over parties. Parties do nothing for me and are not enjoyable. Only people I care to associate with are people who are in the E-sports community. Otherwise there is no point to being their friends as we have nothing in common, or to relate to, or to even talk about. :) I love CS and E-sports and you'll see me as a part of it until the day I die. :)
