AGO sign oskarish; expand roster to seven players

AGO have bought out Oskar "⁠oskarish⁠" Stenborowski from Illuminar and added another player to their roster.

As Illuminar tried out Karol "⁠rallen⁠" Rodowicz and Michał "⁠snatchie⁠" Rudzki in practice and qualifiers, oskarish ended on the bench of the team at the start of February. Following a month on the bench, Illuminar and AGO agreed on transfer details and the 22-year-old in-game leader oskarish found a new home.

oskarish has strengthened AGO's lineup

AGO's coach Mikołaj "⁠miNirox⁠" Michałków explained the expansion of the roster, claiming their goal is to have two players for each position:

"We are expanding our team with another player, oskarish. We know very well that there is a deficit of good in-game leaders in our country and you can count them on the fingers of one hand. I am glad that I will be able to work with Oskar, who feels good in this role. As an organization, we strive to have two players in the same position - this is another step to build our vision" - miNirox

oskarish added that he was interested in the "professionalism" of AGO:

"I am extremely pleased that I can become a part of x-kom AGO . The moment I decided to start talking about the transfer, I knew it was a good direction. From the beginning, I was interested in the professionalism of the board. I have never worked in a team whose model of leadership is very different from other organizations. I have a very positive attitude towards the coming months. I want the Poles to finally have a reason to be proud and I know that we have a lot of hard work ahead of us" - oskarish

The team noted that before oskarish's first appearance on the roster, he will undergo a series of tests and research conducted by their experts. Which five players will AGO prioritize moving forward is currently unknown.

This is an interesting move, they can change players depending on different strats that they want to use against various teams.

They will be changing rosters before each tournament by the decision of the coach, who will choose roster depending on positions and performance during practice before the tournament

Not much, but you could argue they don't have the right pieces yet and they started making these roster changes just recently (f1ku is just 16y old still developing, didn't get many chances)so they mainly played with the same 5 roster line up, only few weeks ago making some moves Imo when they finally get 10 players (2 for each position) and make some tweaks before tournament - only then we can judge if this works or not BTW didn't achieve much but are top1 polish team (I know it's nothing to be proud of nowadays)

It's probably the future of how teams are constructed. Silly to be locked to 5 players and have no alternates. What if one gets sick or has visa issues? You aren't scrambling to find some temporary person to fill in. Also, with a larger roster, you play only the 5 best, creating incentive for those not playing to push harder to be on the starting roster, and those on the starting roster to push to make sure they're not benched.

1. All players coming to a team negotiate their salaries. If they get paid less it would only be due to poor negotiating. 2. You're still not getting my point. You seem unable to think outside the box. Let me try again... You are an owner that wants to build a team to compete on the world stage. You get 5 guys. One gets sick and now you're sending 4 guys that know the plays and they have to scramble to find someone that can rummage around to hopefully help out the team. Or, a player has a visa issue. IF... you only sign up 5 guys... you'll always have this problem. It's a problem that happens all the time. If instead you sign 6 or 7 guys, everyone is fighting to be the 'A' Team. If someone gets sick, there's players already on the team that know the plays and practice and are eager to play. Of course a player can sign a contract knowing he's not on the starting lineup and gets sick of it and skips out. That can happen to any team, no matter how many alternates you have. But, if you're signing a contract with a team, you're getting paid, and it's with the understanding that if you're not on the A team, you work hard to get there. Don't like that deal? Go sign a contract with another team. Big deal. But, if you're the 6th guy on Astralis or G2 or Liquid... you're going to big LANs, you're fighting to be on the stage. You personally? Sure. Play for Copenhagen Wolves or EnvyUs.. teams that will never make a Major. Me? I'd take that 6th spot, and fight for a spot on that 5-man A team.

Everyone's laughing, but I believe this is the future... e-sport is being compared with normal sports more and more often, it's attracting more and more potential investors every single tournament. Having 2 players for each position sounds reasonable - one being out of shape means being moved to bench, while the other gets the chance, just like in football, without the need to buyout new players for ridiculous amounts of money from different orgs. Also if they'd really have 10 players in the future, they can have 2 teams, both of which could compete to stay motivated and in best shape possible. I also believe, that the coaches will be able to use substitutes mid-game in the future. This is a 200iq move imo
