Gux joins GamerLegion as head coach

GamerLegion have completed their lineup by signing Rasmus "Gux" Ståhl as their head coach.

Gux was last part of a notable team in 2017, when he played alongside Özgür "woxic" Eker and Issa "ISSAA" Murad in an ESEA Premier team Gux & Friends, before the duo was picked up by HellRaisers. After a three year hiatus, Gux returns to CS with GamerLegion in his first-ever coaching gig.

The fnatic CS 1.6 legend gux makes his CS:GO return

The Swedish player gained notoriety in CS 1.6 where he represented teams like SK, H2k, and LIONS, but most of his success came from his stints with fnatic. Gux was voted the 10th and 12th best player of the final two years of 1.6, but took a step back from the game as others transitioned towards CS:GO.

GamerLegion is currently ranked 39th in the world and was unable to secure a spot at the Europe Minor Closed Qualifier or in ESL Pro League, but they hold the top spot in ESEA MDL with 11 wins from 15 matches played.

GamerLegion have the following roster:

Sweden Hampus "hampus" Poser
Sweden Fredrik "freddieb" Buö
Sweden Dennis "dennis" Edman
Sweden William "draken" Sundin
Sweden Alfred "RuStY" Karlsson

Sweden Rasmus "Gux" Ståhl (coach)

ill never understand why kids have to use such negative terms to describe people that have achieved more than they ever could and are making moves in the industry that they based their lives on. They chose him for reasons of their own, and u have no reason to think he wont do a good job.

9 year old confirmed. Gux is one of the best cs players to ever play the game. He has more skill in his toe then you'll ever have in your whole body. To call him irrelevant is just plainly dumb. The basics of the game has remained practiclly unchanged ever since he was one of the best swedish cs players of his time

Every 1.6 "star" is more than a good coach. Zonic was a star player, RobbaN was a star player... do you have Gux's steam account or something to see his CS GO hours?

alright i'll leave it at that, whatever, they were all great players, but i'd consider "star player" being reserved for a certain type of role player for the most part, and even though for instance zeus is a legendary player, the most accomplished igl of all time, he's by no means a star player in my book that being said, whatever, my point is that guxs role on his team doesn't necessarily carry over a ton of usefull stuff into being a coach, however of course he could still be capable of coaching, it just wouldn't be as natural as it was for robban or zonic for instance, i think flusha is one of the smartest players of all time, but i don't think it'd carry over to a team-type-coach position, if anything he'd be great for coaching individuals on the team but not for the team as a whole

you don't have to be top 5 all the time to be legend. Just look like fRoD/johnny R./XeqtR/ScreaM/Luciano not very long on top but still considered legends, for us who calls him a legend we knew him as the aggro mad fragger which was crazy to watch

hes only considered a legend bc of the success fnatic had while he was on the team. Gux was a very talented player for sure, but i wouldnt consider him a legend, and i def wouldnt put him up with some of the players u listed. Frod is a legend bc the time that he was on top, he was completely insane. No1 wanted to go against coL bc they knew they had to deal with fr0d

Stat-wise he was not that impressive but his playstyle was trully unique. He was part of Fnatic 2009, a team that by that time was considered the most dominant ever in CS and a team that spawned the core of Swedish CS for the years to come. It was also the first time GTR played for a professional team. As I said many times in these forums, stats don't really mean a thing. Karrigan is not top 20 stat wise yet he is one of the best players ever to touch the game

Giants were decent though, they had the likes of kHRYSTAL and FYRR73 at the time who later went to play for Lions iirc... They were a solid tier 1.5/2 team who still managed to put up a fight against the big names.

I didn't miss it, I wasn't even part of the conversation so not sure why your reply was directed at me. Gux was always a solid player though but wouldn't exactly go as far as calling him a legend, you're right about that. He was still a vital part of fnatic and SK when still active.

If you consider XeqtR a legend then you have to consider Gux a legend as well. Gux played for the best teams in the world for most of his career. His SK and fnatic teams were always Top 3 in the world.

Well take a look at Gux winnings (in those top teams you said) and then take a look at XeqtR's winnings and then add that XeqtR played almost 10 years before Gux, then take into account prizemoney that was available in 2000-2005 and 2007-2012 and then come back and compare the players.

The reasons he was good in 1.6 are largely irrelevant in GO (impeccable positioning). Still, it could work out, he was a very intelligent player.

Yeah, I know. What I'm getting at is that his playstyles were kind of at odds with how you'd be decent at GO, but I also mentioned his intelligence could lend itself to helping. He was just very positional, and it's not as effective in GO.

Obviously he's not stupid, but typically good coaches have been players who previously led teams. I think his experience is solid, but I'm curious how much he's truly followed the scene. I think sometimes it's hard to change mentality in players, even when they're on the outside looking in.

To be good coach you don't need to be great player. And you can find proof in many sports for example football. Guardiola current coach of Man City has never been great player but still amazing coach. When it comes to CS in general to be good coach you must have amazing game knowledge which comes because he played 1.6 on top level. When they singed him they looked about his past but also nationality mostly so they can speak same language which also brings more chances of winning.

Probably somewhat similar, Source was more angle-heavy than GO, but still not as much as 1.6.

Gux has never veen a legend. When you talk about legends is for history, mooves, skills, era, whatever... Gux is NOT a legend. 1.6 legend: f0rest, zeus, carn, harts, msx, ksharp, frod, cogu, dsn, spawn, heaton, etcetcetc But no Gux anywhere. He was good.. yes... but not a legend.

he should play for them not coach them. Pretty sure he would be better than the other players in this team
