Gen.G surpass Envy in Los Angeles

Gen.G opened their Flashpoint 1 Group B campaign with a 2-1 victory over Envy.

Gen.G extended their LAN winning streak after besting fellow North American side Envy in a three-map series. While the opposition was weakened due to having coach Nikola "⁠LEGIJA⁠" Ninić as a stand-in for Kaleb "⁠moose⁠" Jayne, they were the first team to take a map off Gen.G on LAN, snatching their opponents' pick of Inferno.

The series kicked off with a close Train game, where Damian "⁠daps⁠" Steele and company managed to make up for a weak CT side performance by shining on the offense. The DreamHack Open Anaheim champions overcame a 10-15 deficit and eventually came out victorious in overtime, with Kenneth "⁠koosta⁠" Suen shining with a 1.46 rating.

Noah "⁠Nifty⁠" Francis and Buğra "⁠Calyx⁠" Arkın ensured Envy remained in the series on Inferno, where the team put up a CT side performance that left much to be desired. But just like on Train, their T side showing was a lot more promising as they gave up just three rounds in the second half to run out 16-13 winners and force a third map.

Mirage saw Gen.G kick off to a shaky start on the CT side of the map, but the team picked up the pace in the middle and latter portions of the half, extending their position to a 9-6 lead. Another outstanding offense yielded Gen.G a victory on Mirage as daps' troops wrapped up this close series without even letting their opponents hit double-digits on the map.
