Dignitas defeat Orgless in LAN debut at Flashpoint

Dignitas have started their debut at Flashpoint successfully with a 2-1 win against Orgless in the opening bout of Group C.

Richard "Xizt" Landström's decision to bring the Pujan "FNS" Mehta-led team into the "Group of Assisted Living" instead of HAVU and set up an opening match against the fittingly-named North American lineup has certainly paid off, but the series was far from the comfortable going the Swedes might have hoped for.

Picked next-to-last behind MIBR in the group selection process, Dignitas had undoubtedly been considered a big threat by the other participants of Flashpoint, but their match against Orgless was full of question marks, nonetheless.

On one side, a freshly-founded collection of North American misfits and rejects with no backing, and a debuting team with a struggling Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács standing in for their star AWPer on the other.

GeT_RiGhT led the way on the decider

Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli's absence was clear at the beginning of the series, as on Train Dignitas had no one to step up to the plate other than Xizt, who kept them afloat early on. Orgless kept finding gaps in the defense, which at times looked uncoordinated, perhaps due to communication issues stemming from the last-minute addition of GuardiaN.

Although the half was salvaged at the end in large part thanks to a halfbuy victory, the North American squad looked more than comfortable once the sides switched. A second-round forcebuy going the way of FNS & co. seemed to rattle the Swedish-Slovakian combination, which saw Orgless cruise to a 16-8 win on the opening map.

Dignitas had not played Train officially before this series, however, and it was clear that they were much better prepared on their own pick, Nuke. Outside of a few heroics from Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker on the defense, Orgless were the ones on the back foot throughout the entire second map. Xizt's men clinched a comfortable 10-5 half, quickly reached map point, and equalized the series at 16-10 despite an admirable comeback attempt from the North American side.

Everyone had their moments on Nuke, but on Inferno the eyes were very much on Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund, who was having a great map from the get-go as he led the way in Dignitas' fruitful offense. Orgless had a great run in the middle of the first half, but they found themselves trailing 6-9 by halftime, nonetheless, after Adam "friberg" Friberg's B entries sent them on a double eco late while Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg converted a 1v2 clutch.

The second half followed a similar script to Nuke, as Dignitas went on a big streak on the defense to reach 15 rounds. With a nine-round buffer, it was only a matter of time before they finished off the series, and they did so before things got dangerous at 16-12 after another last-ditch effort from Orgless.

I love some facts about this match: 1. DIG played with a stand in, forced to comm in english (with Hallzerk they're communicating in swedish, wich is a lot easier and confortable for them) and even tho it was kinda hard, they won. 2. Trashtalkers lost to a bunch of guys that, quote: "fucking suck". Not cool to trashtalk legends, man. Karma is a bitch, indeed. 3. "IT'S GUARDIAN, M*THERF*CKER!"
