mousesports outlast FaZe to remain undefeated in ESL Pro League Stage 2

MOUZ have won their second match of ESL Pro League Season 11 Europe Stage 2 after taking down FaZe in an exhilarating three-map series.

Finn "karrigan" Andersen’s MOUZ continued their dominance over FaZe, improving their record against Nikola "NiKo" Kovač's squad to five in five series victories as the two squads faced off in a rematch of their clash in the first stage.

The map veto saw the matchup mirror the map selection of the past head-to-head, with the international squads unexpectedly trading each other’s map picks on Nuke and Train with dominant scorelines, contrasting what had been seen from the two European giants in their previous bout. Dust2 proved to be a closer affair but it was MOUZ who emerged victorious after a commanding defensive performance.

mousesports edge out FaZe for the fifth time under Karrigan

MOUZ stamped their mark on the matchup with great dominance on the opening map of Nuke, where the karrigan-led squad stormed to a commanding 13-2 lead on the favoured CT side. A series of unbelievable clutches ensured MOUZ attained the extensive score difference, which included an unexpected last-second defuse from Robin "ropz" Kool. Two additional rounds were all FaZe could muster in the second half as the opening map ended at 16-4, with ropz and David "frozen" Čerňanský concluding their performances with astonishing 2.02 and 1.79 ratings, respectively.

Helvijs "broky" Saukants stepped up to the plate on Train after a muted Nuke showing, pulling off incredible pistol round quad kills in both halves, with the latter featuring a 1v4 clutch. The additional firepower of NiKo and Håvard "rain" Nygaard propelled FaZe to a dominant 11-4 lead on the defence. The two European teams then traded a total of five rounds each as they swapped sides, but the back and forth was unfavourable to MOUZ as FaZe gradually closed out the map 16-9.

Dust2 played host to the decider, where an incredible 1v4 from ropz secured the T side pistol for MOUZ, but it was FaZe who claimed an early 5-1 lead in the half after capitalising on a force buy success. A subsequent period of prosperity from MOUZ allowed karrigan and co. to level the score at 6-6 before conceding the final three rounds to chase a 6-9 deficit at the halfway point.

The pattern of pistol round clutches continued in the second half as yet another broky clutch, this time in a 1v3, put FaZe on 10 rounds. With defeat on the horizon, MOUZ recomposed to lock down a water-tight defence to claim 10 of the next 12 rounds and secure the map 16-12, and the series 2-1.

It's not about todays generation calling it. It's what the team called in history. And mouz is German cs. You avoid calling big names under mouz flag without calling the like the big German cs players. There were some real big German teams and players! It hasn't rised just in the last few months

Entertaining game with insane rounds. As much as those few incradible nuke rounds tilted Faze off, the decider round was the antiforce round of the 2nd half of dust, since Faze has no good T strats and they had to convert those first 3 T rounds to have a chance. Also, for such an experienced player as Olof is, with so many big trophies etc, to be outplayed by youngsters in ropz and frozen over and over, is mindboggling.

That was clash of two teams that are dissapointing for me. FaZe Clan lacks a solid leadership, while mousesports lacks a little bit of firepower. Both of these teams with some changes could be a world contender.

They do. ropz and frozen won't win all of the games for them. woxic and karrigan are ok, but what is chrisJ still doing in this roster idk. He isn't IGLing anymore, he doesn't give the team firepower, he is useless at this point.

chrisJ is support and he is 2nd IGL if karrigan doesn't feel his calls. Chris second awp's and can lurk if needed. he's a very versatile player. and when he does pop off, he is popping off. For example yesterday on dust 2, He was top fragger

Realistically speaking, if Olof continues to be in a slump, he will get kicked. Looking at their possibilities, FaZe could try bringing in another young talent, just like they did with Broky, or they could just try to buy out a player they know would suit them. At this point, though, I have no idea who would that be in either case, so I'm guessing there will be a role swap in FaZe and Olof will perform better, because most likely it's about the role. When pros underperform for so long it's not about them just not hitting their shots, it's about them not being comfortable in a role, and that's ok, nobody is perfect. So my guess is in an event or two we will see FaZe with some role swaps and oh boy will they grind to the top5

Faze would like to be a top3 team, right? They either stick with niko IGLing and get even more firepower (i think nukkye is solid pickup as hes also hybrid like olof). Or they get proper IGL, which apart from Alex might be hard to pick, but it is still doable. Obviously GOD HUNDEN is still free (wink wink). Either way, olof is out of equation. Or better to say... should be. Not entirely in CSGO maybe, but in faze for sure. I mean look at navi with guardian and now. Top teams are stuck with underperforming players for way too long. I assume it is due to bad contracts (overpaid, no clause that you get much less money when benched etc.) + they don't have substitute. Well, astralis still one step ahead i guess?

The problem is most good teams have atleast 2 young talents with the exception of fnatic. They rely on shithousery and playing the game in a unique way to win, very impressive and entertaining to watch. Look at Astralis slump now, only magisk is "new blood" I think they are making a huge mistake with es3tag. FaZe need to dump Olof and get in some sick new entry fragger blood to give rain motivation. Keep broky and cold they are fine

I don't know, I'm assuming this from what it seems reading interviews and because his past in Mousesports, where he also lead and tried to carry all by himself. Also I'm quite sure the decision to spend big money buying coldzera instead of an igl was his.

Wow I predicted 2:1 and Olof to get 25 frags in another thread, not far away!

Man, it's not olof, it's online CS man. All these months will not count for CS history.

Kids, dust2 should a lesson for You that stats don't always matter. Chris 'chrisJ' de Jong 40 - 49 -9 ADR-60.6 Rating-0.91 ChrisJ and Karrigan won pretty important rounds on d2 and because of it, mouz won the game but yeah, 1mln userID's will say that "star players" carry the game.

FazeClan made so many tactical mistakes at that series + the fact that Olof underperforming like crazy ( i mean he didnt win a solo 1v1 fight) cost them the tournament. They are not bad but every time they lost matches at details. Personally i am thinking that olof should leave and some serious IGL should come to make them a top 5 material. ALEX is a perfect fit i think at this team in the near future. ps Broky getting better and better every game
