Astralis put OG out of top-three running in ESL Pro League

Astralis have swept OG in a convincing two-map series to clinch their second win in the round-robin group stage.

Astralis' triumph sees the Danes stay in the running for a top-three finish in the second stage. They are currently sitting in fourth place with one match to go against MOUZ, which will decide whether they will enter a tiebreaking scenario with the European side and the loser of fnatic-Natus Vincere (in case of a win) or finish the league as the fourth-best team.

Meanwhile, OG's hopes have been thwarted as they're now sitting at a 1-3 record without a chance to reach the top three ahead of their last match against FaZe, which will only determine the fifth and sixth place.

Astralis continue their recovery from a 0-2 start in the second stage

At the beginning of the series, Astralis immediately took hold of OG's pick, Dust2, getting off to a painless start on the offense. The only thing standing in their way during the half was Mateusz "mantuu" Wilczewski, whose two multikills gave the European mixture a string of three rounds, but otherwise the Danes were in total control as they swept the rest of the half.

Up 11-4, Astralis conceded the first three rounds of the second half but quickly seized control again, with quad-kills from Nicolai "device" Reedtz and Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth pushing them to a 16-8 win on the opener.

Overpass followed with more of the same. Emil "Magisk" Reif's all-headshot pistol round ace set off another dominant offensive half, in which OG could only muster a three-round streak once more. Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen and device turned around a 2v4 afterplant in the second pistol round, putting Astralis at 13 rounds, and even though their opponents managed to stall the game, it didn't take long for the favorites to lock down the series at 16-10, 2-0.

If so, Fnatic can make the top 3 even lose to Navi tomorrow? Since Fnatic has advantages against both Astralis and Mouz?

1. FNC 2. Astralis 3. Mouz 4. Navi RD is decider If navi wins then 1. Navi 2. FNC 3. Astralis 4. Mouz if Astralis loses then they are eliminated. I think FNC is safe either if lose or if win. Other teams could go either ways

Map difference between the tied participants > RD
2020-04-09 00:51

Official ESL's rules says: If after any point from 1. to 10., the number of tied participants is reduced or divided into several groups of tied participants, the still tied participants will in each case be compared again starting with the first point. 1. Points amassed between the tied participants (direct match win > direct match loss) 2. Map difference between the tied participants (3:2 maps > 3:3 maps) ... If if navi and mouz lose tomorrow: Navi, Astralis, Mouz have same points 1. Navi > Astralis Astralis > Mouz Mouz > Navi 2. Map difference between the tied participants: Navi - 2:3 Astralis - 3:2 or 3:3 Mouz - 3:2 or 2:2 So: 2-3. Astralis and mouz 4. Navi

If NaVi and Astralis win, that you are right, but if Fnatic and Astralis won, three team would have 9 points and 1:1 between tied participants

Navi can't go out Navi and fnatic have both qualified Astralis can qualify if they beat mouz and Navi beat fnatic But if fnatic win Navi lose then astralis are out because Navi already beat astralis h2h Astralis can make it over mouz because of same points better h2h

There will be a three way tie dude Astralis > mouz > navi > Astralis So now they look. At the map differnce between the tied teams And navi has 2-3 rn ( when they lose they either have 2-5 or 3-5 ) and will be last Edit: navi cant qualify if they lose and astralis win

so fnatic are already guaranteed top3 no? they have head to head advantage against both astralis and mouz so even if they lose against navi and mouz lose to asstralis they will be qualified. Prepare for some throw league

Yeah that is my understanding too. Fnatic are the only ones safe I believe. If they win they are top, if they lose they are 2nd or 3rd which is irrelevant anyway. Then the winner of mouse and Astralis goes through and the last spot is still up in the air.
2020-04-09 00:49

wait why? if fnatic wins they get to finals if navi wins ( and mouz loses ) navi goes to finals so no throw matches tomorrow

If Mouz and fnatic wins then 1.fnatic 2.mouz 3. Navi Mouz and navi wins then 1.mouz 2.navi 3.fnatic Astralis(2-0) and fnatic wins then 1.fnatic 2.astralis 3.mouz Astralis(2-0) and navi wins then 1.navi 2.fnatic 3.astralis And if astralis dont win 2-0 then RD comes in play Is this right mens ??

No. In EPL rules is written, that if teams have same points that: 1.Points amassed between the tied participants (direct match win > direct match loss) 2. Map difference between the tied participants (3:2 maps > 3:3 maps) So if Fnatic and Astralis win today, that NaVi eliminated
