Gen.G and Orgless move on in Flashpoint lower bracket
Gen.G and Orgless came out on top of elimination matches against FunPlus Phoenix and Chaos, respectively, in the first round of the lower bracket at Flashpoint 1.
Bad News Bears, who played Flashpoint as FPX, and Chaos became the first two teams eliminated in the tournament's playoffs after falling down to the lower bracket and losing a second consecutive match there without winning a single map in the process.
Despite that, neither team went out without putting up a fight. FunPlus Phoenix had shown earlier against MAD Lions that they were capable of taking one of the biggest teams present to their limit and did so again in their matchup against Gen.G in the first round of the lower bracket.

On the opening map, Mirage, Peter "ptr" Gurney & co. didn't start off well, with Damian "daps" Steele's team picking up speed early on, but FunPlus Phoenix went on a massive run to end the half 9-6 in their favor before quickly claiming a 13-6 lead in the second half. Ultimately, though, Gen.G seized control and fended off nearly every attack from their opponents to come back for a 16-14 victory.
Inferno was more straightforward once Gen.G stabilized on the defense after early problems, as Kenneth "koosta" Suen led the charge with 31 kills to secure the series win at 16-10, 2-0.

The second series started out in one-sided fashion, as well, as Chaos looked poised to claim a dominant victory on Train when they ran an incredibly successful defense worth 12 rounds.
When the pistol round went their way, too, Orgless' fate looked sealed, but a massive effort from the underdogs spearheaded by Gage "Infinite" Green saw the tables turn and the map reached overtime. There, Pujan "FNS" Mehta's squad maintained the momentum to complete the huge comeback on their own pick.
Switching over to Inferno, Orgless were in the driving seat once they were able to buy rifles on the defense, where a 10-1 run awarded them a one-sided half before they closed things out without too many issues in the second half at 16-8.
