BOOM beat Isurus to win ESL One: Road to Rio - South America

BOOM won the first Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournament in South America by beating Isurus 2-0 in the grand final of ESL One: Road to Rio.

The Brazilian team took the lead in the race for the South American spot at the Rio Major with another convincing display against Isurus, whom they had already defeated in two maps during the group stage. The win capped off a dominant tournament for the ex-INTZ squad, who dropped just one map, in their opening series against RED Canids, and looked a clear cut above the rest.

Gustavo "yel" Knittel's charges came out with all guns blazing and cruised to a 16-6 victory on Nuke, Isurus' map pick, despite losing both pistol rounds, after shutting down any chances of their opponents stringing rounds together throughout the game.

BOOM are now leading the South American ranking

Isurus looked a completely different side on Mirage, romping to an 11-4 lead with a water-tight defense. Once again, they struggled to convert the second round after winning the pistol, giving BOOM a way back into the game. The Argentinian side thought they had done enough to secure a victory after a 1v2 clutch from José "L!nKz^" Ortega had put the team on 14 rounds and destroyed BOOM's economy, but the Brazilians came fighting back and wrapped up the series in double overtime.

The difference between 1st and 4th in points is only 300? So by being last you get 80% of the points the winner got? That's such a small difference.

I think points of SA teams aren´t compared with other regions. Only with SA. NA only with NA etc

then its a bit unfair for say NA teams since normally SA&NA would play NA minor together. And super unfair for EU since normally they'd have like 8 teams not having to play minors.

Not that bad, dude. 2nd place is ok. Clearly BOOM was the better team in this quali. This event was sad, very sad for RED Canids, not for Isurus. gg
