Beta update adds Trusted Launch

An optional beta branch of CS:GO was shipped today to further combat cheating, as it includes a significant restriction to the types of programs and files that can interact with the game.

The latest beta branch, which can be opted-in by following the instructions here, is a part of Valve's ongoing fight against cheating. In the blog post titled "Interacting with CS:GO", it was noted that "CS:GO now significantly restricts the types of programs and files that can interact with the game".

Users that launch the game with incompatible files will be greeted with a warning indicating what file is causing issues, and may be blocked from joining VAC-enabled servers. To get around that, "Trusted Launch" can be disabled in the game settings, but that may temporarily impact the user's trust score.

In the blog post, details about what developers of third-party programs that interact with the CS:GO executable need to do not have them blocked have also been noted.
