TYLOO defeat Invictus to win Perfect World Asia League Summer 2020
TYLOO took down Invictus 2-1 in a hard-fought grand final to clinch the Perfect World Asia League Summer 2020 title.
TYLOO had won ten consecutive series by a 2-0 scoreline prior to the grand final matchup, with their last defeat coming against Invictus in the opening match of the tournament. This time around, YuLun "Summer" Cai and company were able to come out on top after three maps, which saw each individual member have their shining moments on their way to victory and 2000 crucial RMR points.
The grand final commenced on TYLOO’s map pick of Vertigo, where Invictus claimed an early 3-0 lead off the back of a crisp Peiqi "flying" Song quad kill on the CT pistol. Summer’s men posted their first few rounds on the board once guns came out, but a trio of impressive rounds from JiaMing "DeStRoYeR" Gu, including a 1v3 clutch, edged Invictus further ahead at 8-3. With the half looking as if it would run away from them, TYLOO salvaged a 6-9 scoreline to give themselves a fighting chance at the half switch.

It didn’t take long for Invictus to double the score of their Chinese rivals as the second half began, with a flawless T side pistol securing a three-round streak for a 12-6 advantage. However, with a map defeat nearing, TYLOO kicked into gear to take control of proceedings as Zhenghao "DANK1NG" Lv spearheaded the defence on the AWP.
A fantastic all-round defensive performance from TYLOO soon brought the team within two rounds of Invictus until flying broke the streak and found a 13th for his side with four outstanding Deagle headshot kills. Despite flying’s 1.55-rated Vertigo heroics, TYLOO refused to slow down in the latter stages of the map and tightened up their defence to close out the map 16-14 with a solid B site hold.
TYLOO carried their momentum into Mirage to storm to a 5-0 lead on the CT side, where a Kelun "SLOWLY" Sun 1v2 clutch kept his team from conceding a round early on. DeStRoYeR and company eventually broke through the defence in the sixth round to lock down three consecutive rounds and get a foothold in the map. Two subsequent defuses came out from Summer’s troops before Invictus dominantly closed out the half with the last five rounds to reach the midway point with an 8-7 lead on the T side.

The opening round of the second half went in favour of TYLOO, but Invictus immediately responded to keep themselves ahead. The two teams locked horns as they traded three rounds apiece, with Invictus’ eco round damage ensuring the T’s economy stayed in check. The trio of DeStRoYeR, flying and Peng "xiaosaGe" Song proved too much to handle for TYLOO as the map approached its conclusion, with the CTs shutting them down repeatedly for a 16-12 win to force a decider.
The series headed to Inferno to determine the tournament winner, and both teams refused to let the victory slip away. TYLOO secured four initial rounds as they kicked off the map on the defence, but Invictus soon gained control after their second buy came to fruition. DeStRoYeR’s men posted seven straight rounds before a confident HaoWen "somebody" Xu ace temporarily ended the dominant run. Invictus hit back swiftly with two more rounds, with TYLOO locking down the final round to head into halftime chasing a 6-9 deficit.
TYLOO stepped it up a gear once they swapped to the offensive side to put themselves in the driver’s seat after securing eight out of the opening nine rounds of the second half. Consistent kills and clutches from the likes of somebody and SLOWLY launched the team into a 14-10 lead, with a 16-11 scoreline materialising swiftly afterwards as TYLOO clinched the win.
