CSPPA partners with two English universities to perform survey of mental health in CS:GO

The Counter-Strike Professional Players' Association has partnered with members of the University of Chichester and the University of Winchester to perform a survey of CS:GO players' mental health.

Conducted by Dr. Phil Birch, Ben Sharpe, and Dr. Matt Smith with the help of the CSPPA and former players and coaches, the research project aims to identify and examine factors influencing mental health in professional CS:GO players and advance the understanding of those issues.

In its continued effort to "develop a sustainable working environment for professional players," the association hopes to be in a better position to support players with issues concerning mental health with the findings of the survey.

Movement in Astralis, FaZe, and Vitality brought issues of burnout and mental health back into the limelight this year

Mental health and burnout have been recurring topics in the saturated CS:GO scene. Recently, the discussion was reignited after several players decided to step down from their teams or take an extended break, citing burnout as one of the main causes.

Alex "ALEX" McMeekin was among the first this year to take a stance against the busy schedule, having stepped down from Vitality in March after the French side had spent 36 weeks on the road in 2019. In May, Astralis made headlines as Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander and Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth took leave to deal with symptoms of stress and burnout, while Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer left FaZe's active roster to recuperate from fatigue.

if a correlation is found between CSGO players and burnout it will be a little step forward. If the reasons are found from thoses burnouts it will be a step forward. If those issues are exclusives to CSGO players and not found anywhere else in esport that a HUGE step forward.

If you think mental health issues is only about autism or going retard then you should educate yourself. Being exhausted, playing and learning for a lot of hours can drive you crazy. (Not like that type of crazy you see in the Asylum) Just that having a small amount of time to rest and meet your family can make you lose motivation. It can also makes you play bad thats why players have their off days. (I mean its natural not to do well but sometimes we play like we are out of our minds because we played too much games the past few days)

this is totally ridiciulous, pro gamers are such crybabies they are playing a computer game ffs and they are paid 20k/month for it no matter what results... busy schedule? most pros are 20-25 yrs old you can travel for free around the world... stressful? yeah right , because most pros are grown 25yo ´´kids´´ who played 10-15k hours their whole childhood and now complaining about everything, they probably never worked in normal job for few bucks for example: some slovakian/polish/romanian truck driver is driving 6 weeks around europe and 1 week home, day and night eating trash food, sleeping on highway resting areas... he can be crashed any second on the road by another car and earning nothing compared to these crybabies in front of pc´s - pathetic...

Shitty analogy. Driving for 6 weeks is different than staring at a computer for pretty much your whole life. And the other one is way worse.
