Derkeps steps down from KOVA to focus on studies

KOVA have moved Nikita "⁠Derkeps⁠" Sirmitev to the bench as the player has decided to center his attention on furthering his education.

Derkeps has been in KOVA since its inception in April of last year, and accrued a 1.11 rating in the meantime, helping the team fight with the strongest Finnish sides at local events, making deep appearances in online qualifiers, such as the one for the ESL One Rio Europe Minor, and competing in online cups like the Home Sweet Home series.

Derkeps was a high impact player for KOVA

Derkeps turned heads in Finland when he helped KOVA reach third place at Telia Esports Series Season 1, second at Vectorama LAN 2019, and first at Assembly Summer 2019, garnering 1.11, 1.17 and 1.14 ratings in his first three LANs on record, although he struggled to keep the same level in his last three LANs before stepping down, staying in the red.

"In our opinion this is an exceptionally mature decision and it describes Nikita as a person," KOVA General Manager Timo Tarvainen stated on KOVA's website, "we support him fully with this decision and we now give him the room to focus on studying.”

The 17-year-old still remains under contract with the Finnish organization, but has been placed on the inactive roster as he refocuses his priorities on studying.

Most likely he was born by russian parents, I doubt someone finnish would have surname Sirmitev and would call his son Nikita.

Why not? How do you know both of his parents are "clearly russian"? Even if they were, born in Finland = Finnish. He has the Finnish nationality, he speaks Finnish and he lives in Finland which means that he is Finnish, like it or not.

I know him, he's both fluent in Russian and Finnish but mostly speaks Russian if the other guy knows Finnish(as in another rantaryssä) , he is still really good in Finnish and I would consider myself Finnish too, ALSO I think he has a Finnish mother from what I know

Guy has russian name + surname, speaks fluent russian, have russian friends and friends with cis players (plays faceit with them or played idk what about now, he even has VK page with russian groups (he subbed on it, which only proves me right lol) In the childhood his family probably moved to finland and that's all.

How do you know he moved to Finland? I have many friends who speak Russian with their family, have Russian parents, but are born in Finland, lived all their lives in Finland and speak fluent Finnish.

Huge loss for KOVA, Derkeps is a great player. For me they should now remove pietola, because he is playing really bad, and add BONA, because I think he has pretty big impact on the game, and RAIMOVORMISTO, because he seems like a good player.
