Envy release moose and ryann, add kuben as head coach; LEGIJA transitions to player

Kaleb "⁠moose⁠" Jayne and Ryan "⁠ryann⁠" Welsh are no longer contracted to Envy, while Jakub "⁠kuben⁠" Gurczyński will replace Nikola "⁠LEGIJA⁠" Ninić as head coach, with the German transitioning into a player role.

Initial reports of Envy's roster overhaul surfaced at the end of July in a report published by DBLTAP, in which ryann and one of Buğra "⁠Calyx⁠" Arkın and Michał "⁠MICHU⁠" Müller were on the chopping block. The Pole's agency, Fantasyexpo, later denied that the changes included MICHU, with Calyx also turning out to be safe after all, as the team opted to remove moose.

kuben has found a new home after leaving Virtus.pro earlier this year following a five-year tenure with the CIS-based organization, taking up the coaching role from LEGIJA. Meanwhile, the former BIG member has made the transition back to a player to fill a position in the starting roster.

The three-man core of Noah "⁠Nifty⁠" Francis, Calyx and MICHU means Envy’s hopes of qualification for the ESL One: Rio are hanging in the balance as the team will have to overcome a large points deficit at the final RMR event at IEM New York: Online to secure a spot at the $2 million Major.

With LEGIJA picking up the mouse once more, Envy are looking to sign a fifth player on a loan or a short-term contract to see out the year as the North American organisation will be "planning new investment for 2021, and will finalise the lineup in January next year".
