Copenhagen Flames announce new lineup

The Danish organization has announced the signing of a young lineup featuring a mixture of former Singularity and Lyngby Vikings players.

After their previous lineup was transferred to x6tence in late June, Copenhagen Flames were left with the task of putting together a new team entirely from scratch out of a "large list of potential candidates", twelve of whom were eventually interviewed before the organization decided on the final quintet.

The new roster is headlined by former North and HEROIC player Daniel "⁠mertz⁠" Mertz, who last plied his trade in Singularity until early August when his contract expired after he spent the off-season on the bench.

The AWPer is joined by his former teammate from the aforementioned squad, 17-year-old Jakob "⁠jabbi⁠" Nygaard, as well as by ex-Lyngby Vikings duo Marcus "⁠maNkz⁠" Kjeldsen, who will take on the mantle of the in-game leader, and Jakob "⁠Daffu⁠" Schildt.

The last piece of the roster is Sebastian "⁠Basso⁠" Aagaard, who played for Copenhagen Flames in 2018-2019 and most recently attempted to create an international lineup in Adaptation, which ended up disbanding after just two months of existence.

The Danes will make their debut on Thursday in Nine to Five 3 Dawn, where they are part of the same group with BIG Academy, SKADE, and Wisla Krakow. Their opening match of the double-elimination group will be against the German side at 09:00 .

Sick lineup, it's nice to see Mertz get a chance in another team. I'm sure they will break in to the top 30 in no time now that MiBR is feeding teams in EU. Their announcement video was also pretty good, y'all should check it out.

Yeah exciting! If CPH Flames keep on developing players like they always have and bringing them out into the big scene (TeSeS, Farlig to name a few) this should be mertz's big break.

Its just that these talents they "developed" tend to already have above average showings and rating when they joined. This lineup instead... only mertz is pure firepower and special talent in a way.

Yes but CPH Flames has always been that stepping stone for those players to get onto the bigger teams. I've always seen them as being perfectly in the middle of the tier 3-4 scene and the tier 1-2 scene. Maybe this lineup will ruin that streak but who knows.

Yeah what i meant was that its been a good stepping stone for already promising talents (at least rating wise) but is there any example of developin a 0.97 rating player into a 1.10 one?

They don't have a lot of hltv matches, so you can't really use that tbh. But you still have a valid point

If mertz is AWPer, I see some great show form that team. Maybe they would be sucking for a first time, but if they'll work on themselves, they can get a really nice results.

Without being an igl though, which makes it even more strange .. :o He should have plenty of options by going international, must be some reason why he doesn't do that. I'd love to see him in c0ntact instead of emi.

I'm not sure if Daffu is a good choice, I don't think he will make enough impact in this team. Who the hell even is maNkz? Same with Jabbi? For me this roster is trash, and they should build a stronger one around mertz and Basso.
