FURIA eliminate Chaos to book DreamHack Open Summer final spot

The Brazilians required just two maps to come out on top of this series and now await their next opponent in the title decider of the $90,000 tournament.

FURIA took down Chaos 2-0 to become the first finalist of DreamHack Open Summer's North American division. After moving past fellow Brazilian sides Yeah and TeamOne in the group stage, Andrei "arT" Piovezan's troops passed their first real test in the tournament with flying colors in a match decorated by an impressive display from Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato, who appears to be picking up form ahead of Sunday's title match against the winner of tonight's other semi-final, pitting Liquid against TeamOne.

The Brazilian team came out with all guns blazing on Nuke, their opponents' map pick, and cruised to a 12-3 scoreline in a half where they constantly kept Chaos' players at bay with a deadly double AWP setup.

KSCERATO led the charge as FURIA beat Chaos

After switching to the T side, FURIA continued their dominance as they won two of the initial three rounds — the second of which thanks to a stunning ace by Henrique "HEN1" Teles. With no room for error, Chaos dug deep and put together a string of rounds, but their comeback hopes were then dashed as consecutive 1v1 victories saw the Brazilians walk away with the map.

The first half of Inferno was highly contested as neither side could take any control of the contest, with Joshua "steel" Nissan sitting on a 1.70 rating heading into the break after spearheading Chaos' efforts. The North Americans had labored hard to keep the game from getting too far out of hand, but then KSCERATO took over and inspired his team to a dominant second half with a 1.74 T rating.

FURIA have potential, but I think they need small, but still changes to become TOP 5. Chaos have potential, they just need more time.

lol all these comments by malding brazillians, gotta love it. Guess FURIA got what came to them in Cologne, the more important of the two tournaments. Can't wait to see what Chaos will do in the future and how they'll perform. GL to them in the rest of Cologne.
