Heroic through to DreamHack Open Summer Europe final
The Danes battled back after being decimated on the first map and won the series in a tight Overpass battle.
HEROIC have booked a spot in the grand final of DreamHack Open Summer's European division after seeing off Complexity in a three-map affair. The Danish side stuttered at first as they lost their own map pick in a one-sided game but then moved into high gear, completing the reverse sweep on Overpass after surviving three match points.
Casper "cadiaN" Møller's troops, who will face the winner of the match between BIG and OG in Sunday's grand final, got off on the wrong foot in the series as they were overrun on Vertigo. They went into the break down 4-11 and could not post a single round on the defense as Complexity ran riot, led by Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke, who had an impressive ace in the first half.

HEROIC looked a much stronger side on Mirage, where they had the upper hand for the vast majority of the game. The Danes lost both pistol rounds but replied immediately on both occasions thanks to stunning Desert Eagle actions by Martin "stavn" Lund and Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen, and easily held back a Complexity side that looked short of firepower despite a strong individual performance from Benjamin "blameF" Bremer, who boasted a 1.43 rating and a game-high 23 frags.
The Danish team came out strongly on Overpass, racing to a 4-1 lead after yet another successful round-two break. They went into half-time ahead 8-7, but they had to be kicking themselves after a massive blunder in a 4v1 situation against blameF that gifted Complexity a way back into the game midway through the half.
Complexity took the game by the throat early in the second half and chained seven rounds together to bring the scoreline to 14-10. The game looked like it was drifting to a conclusion, but HEROIC kept their wits about them and pushed for overtime, in which they would strike four times without response.
