TYLOO crowned DreamHack Open Summer Asia champions over ViCi

TYLOO reverse swept ViCi in the best-of-five grand final to win DreamHack Open Summer Asia.

TYLOO have once again been able to best their regional foes of ViCi after sending them to the lower bracket earlier in the DreamHack Open Summer Asia playoffs, making it the eighth time in a row they do so since returning to a full Chinese roster with the additions of Zhenghao "DANK1NG" Lv and Kelun "SLOWLY" Sun in April.

ViCi had a one map disadvantage coming from the lower bracket, but looked poised early on in the day as they took the first two maps of the series, even getting two rounds away from winning the final. Unable to seal the deal on Vertigo, they left the door open for TYLOO to reverse sweep the series and be crowned DreamHack Open Summer Asia champions.

ViCi got off to a solid start on the CT side of Mirage as Yi "JamYoung" Yang and WeiJie "zhokiNg" Zhong got four unanswered pistol kills. JamYoung and Andrew "kaze" Khong then got several multi-kill rounds each, leading their team to a 5-0 lead and JamYoung kept things going in ViCi’s favor with a 1vs2 afterplant clutch. It wasn’t until the 11th round that TYLOO were able to get one the board, saving the half with four rounds won out of the last five.

TYLOO then won a crucial second pistol round to keep their hopes of winning the map alive as YuLun "Summer" Cai and company then took four rounds to make it 8-11 before getting overwhelmed on the B site. From there on out ViCi took control of the map, going on to win it 16-8 and tying up the series, 1-1.

TYLOO turned the match around in the final two maps

Three kills in a 2vs3 afterplant situation by SLOWLY on the B site of Inferno allowed him to defuse the bomb and get his team ahead, but Galils in the Terrorists’ hands in the second round gave ViCi an opportunity to tie the match up. Having broken the CT’s economy, Zhuo "advent" Liang and company went on to win five rounds in a row before a clean defense by TYLOO with three opening frags by HaoWen "somebody" Xu made it 2-5. ViCi didn’t let up, however, and took a 9-2 lead before TYLOO once again pushed late in the half to bring it back to a manageable 6-9.

TYLOO kept the momentum going in the second half, winning the pistol round after a failed aggressive push down mid by the CTs. Two opening frags by DANK1NG with the AWP in the first full buy round helped TYLOO take the lead, but ViCi started to find their stride on the defense, bringing it back to a tie from 10-14. ViCi were able to hit match point, but were denied victory in the last round before overtime.

The two Chinese teams traded rounds to stay tied 16-16 before kaze and zhokiNg shut TYLOO down to take the lead into the second half. ViCi were once again able to get a 2-1 partial after the half to secure the map, 19-17, to get ahead in the series.

ViCi were two rounds away from victory in the third map of the series

TYLOO won the first pistol round on the CT side of Vertigo, following it up with an anti-eco, but ViCi struck back with a buy in the third round and followed it up to bring it to 2-2. kaze then took out for on an anti-eco for his team to take the lead. SLOWLY downed three the following round to bring the map back to even as the two teams then kept the half close, but ViCi were able to pull ahead before switching sides, 9-6.

Up against the ropes TYLOO won the all-important second pistol round, making it a 9-9 scoreline ahead of the first gun round. DANK1NG opened up the A site with three kills as TYLOO retook the lead, going up 13-11 before ViCi were able to make a stand. Despite reaching 14 rounds TYLOO once again struggled to close out the map, letting the CTs bring it back to a tie before finally pushing the match into a decider by winning the last two rounds on Vertigo.

TYLOO won the pistol round on the CT side of Overpass to open the map, and although they lost the second round, they were able to win a forcebuy of their own on the third to stay in the driver’s seat early on. ViCi were able to sprinkle in a few rounds to stay in the race, but TYLOO finished the half ahead 9-6. ViCi then won the second pistol round, but were denied a follow-up, and TYLOO took off from there, giving up only one round in the half to win DreamHack Open Summer Asia.

you're right, i think he can't handle pressure too. but ViCi dropped off so hard at the last map too so it's not a surprise to see kaze drop off at the last map.

Typo would have never won this if they still had Bntet. This new lineup is looking good and consistent. They have a lot of potential too.

Ffs the other 3 guys never ever support Jamyoung and Kaze enough, these 2 been carrying them for long time now. Kaze's been performing like this even longer than that, he is too good for a team like Vici. They gave a really tough fight though, if only they held their nerves in the 3rd map

TYLOO is insane, I think it's just the matter of time before they will enter TOP 20. ViCi is showing some potential, but without small changes I don't think this roster is going to work out.
