FURIA eliminate Gen.G from ESL One Cologne

The Brazilians will play 100 Thieves next in Group A's deciding match for a spot in the playoffs.

The series began with both teams riding waves of momentum on Train. Gen.G got off to a great start on the Terrorist side but ran into problems after clinching the first five rounds, with Kaike "⁠KSCERATO⁠" Cerato's saved gun and Yuri "⁠yuurih⁠" Santos's 1v1 clutch putting FURIA on the board, and the Brazilians remained in full control of the rest of the half.

Up against double digits, Damian "⁠daps⁠" Steele's men were back in the saddle on the back of another pistol round victory. This time, they converted it into a 7-0 start in the second half with Sam "⁠s0m⁠" Oh leading the way, but although the victory was at Gen.G's fingertips, it was FURIA who stood tall at the end with a 16-14 win on the opener.

FURIA won in two maps despite conceding all four pistol rounds

Gen.G added the third pistol round to their name to kick off Inferno, but this time FURIA didn't take nearly as long to respond, taking over the half once they had guns in hand while Vinicius "⁠VINI⁠" Figueiredo topped the charts.

With a 9-6 half in the bag, the Brazillian side went 0 for 4 in pistol rounds, as s0m clutched a 1v2 in the fourth, but FURIA were immediately back on track when they got the economy going, dominating the rest of the CT side for a relatively smooth 16-10 closing.

Fallen has been doing poorly as igl the last couple years As an awper he's still a beast, but for me he's the main reason behind mibr's failure.

I don't think MIBR plays that poorly like tactic wise. It's more like they just lack the firepower against the top teams. FURIA on the other hand has insane firepower.

autimatic again proving why he should be a rifler and not an awper looked uncomfortable on the easiest awp map in the game

He's not as good as he used to be when he was rifling in C9 before the Gen.G buyout.

Man that second half on inferno was brutal, Gen.g definitely made some bad plays they knew that art was lit after shooting him but gave him too much respect. Throughout this game Gen.g gave furia too much respect oh well next time

Gen.G won 24 rounds overall, 11 of those were pistols and post-pistol round wins vs ecos. Winning all 4 pistols gave them almost 50% of the rounds they won today. It just prove how superior FURIA was.

I don't understand why autimatic is still AWPing. It should be obvious that in the past, he was an excellent rifler / lurker. Although his AWPing is good, it's just not cutting it if Gen. G really wants to become a Tier 1 team.

Autimatic needs to be a secondary AWP. There's some places like B overpass back in the C9 days where he really excels with it. And even now he'll have a good game every now and then. But he has not seemed to have gotten anywhere near his 2018 level as a rifler with the weapon and it's just too expensive. Hate to say this because I love him as a player but it's a huge black hole in a team that already has a fragging black hole in it's IGL.
