Heroic overrun BIG to reach ESL Pro League S12 upper-bracket final

The Danish side confirmed their strong form, dismantling BIG after an impressive showing against Astralis in the previous round of the event.

Johannes "⁠tabseN⁠" Wodarz's squad was outmatched in the upper-bracket semi-final of ESL Pro League Season 12, securing just 10 rounds in a 2-0 defeat to HEROIC.

Just like in the match against Astralis on Wednesday, the young Danes of HEROIC were firing on all cylinders, keeping BIG at bay throughout the match. "We've been changing the roles so it is much better for everyone", Johannes "⁠b0RUP⁠" Borup explained in the post-match interview on ESL's stream, "TeSeS and niko make everyone click perfectly".

In the end, it was Nikolaj "⁠niko⁠" Kristensen that shined with a 30K-14D score on Inferno, while Tizian "⁠tiziaN⁠" Feldbusch was the only one to finish the series with an above-average rating for his side, 1.11.

Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller's team will be facing Natus Vincere in the upper-bracket final of ESL Pro League Season 12 - Europe on Friday at 21:00 , while BIG fall to the lower bracket where they will face MOUZ.

niko stood out in Heroic's stomp with a 1.63 rating

Vertigo kicked off with HEROIC claiming a 3-0 T-side lead before Nils "⁠k1to⁠" Gruhne secured a triple to put his side on the board. Unfortunately for the Germans, that was all she wrote for their defensive side, as HEROIC instantly replied and started adding to their tally.

The Danes didn't look troubled before round 12, but b0RUP bailed them out with a hat trick of frags and they finished the half 14-1 up. After locking down the ramp push from BIG in the second half pistol, HEROIC brought map one to a early conclusion, 16-2.

HEROIC's momentum continued on Inferno, where they powered on to an 8-0 lead as cadiaN posted an 11K-1D scoreline. BIG salvaged the half at the end, winning five out of the last seven rounds, and tiziaN topped the scoreboard with 13 kills and 5 multikill rounds.

tiziaN was the hero of the second half pistol as well, grabbing an early double kill to hinder the B-split, giving his side a lifeline. BIG edged the score to 13-8, but then lost a 5v2 situation to niko and cadiaN, which ended their hopes of a comeback. The Daniush side remained composed, and as niko reached 30 frags, ended the map 16-8.

nah its about the 1 map advantage from upper bracket. i dont like it. i mean sure, you deserve to get an advantage from going through uppers.. but 1 map in a bo5 makes it kind of boring imho. Should get like 1 more side pick or smth like that.

thats true. but you have to keep in mind that when you make it to final through lower bracket you usually played like 2 matches more.. Dont know what would be the best solution for this. But a map advantage makes the final more boring then the upper bracket semi/final. I think one more pick/ban for first map or side choice would be better then 1 map adv. Just from a viewers perspective.

1 map pick isnt an equal advantage which the lb team gets for losing a math even gting 0 2 ed Lets say its a single elm, even if you lose 1 2 you're done but in double elm you can throw both the maps 0 32 in any match and still play in finals from lb ,so its unfair to give the ub team just a map pick against a team who gets another shot at the trophy

Heroic is actually looking pretty good, I'm surprised by them, with small changes maybe they could have even their own era at some point. BIG is still showing some potential, I think the core of tabseN, syrsoN and XANTARES can still make a world class team together. I think they are going to win this upper bracket final today.
