Flashpoint 2 announced with $1 million prize pool

The showpiece tournament will return next month with online action and the broadcast talent working out of a studio in London.

B Site has announced the first details about Flashpoint 2, the second edition of its team-owned Counter-Strike tournament. The competition will be played online between November 9 and December 6, with 12 teams vying for the lion's share of a $1 million prize pool.

Flashpoint 2 will see the return of seven of the league's eight founding members, with FunPlus Phoenix omitted from the lineup as the organisation is focused on building a "promising, long-lasting roster" for 2021, according to general manager Petar "⁠peca⁠" Marković.

Flashpoint 2 will kick off on November 9

The partner teams will be joined by three invitees ranked in the top 20 and by two sides coming out of a qualifying system that will begin with two open brackets. Flashpoint 2 will be played online due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the on-air team, led by creative director Duncan "⁠Thorin⁠" Shields and commissioner Christopher "⁠MonteCristo⁠" Mykles, taking viewers through the action from B Site's studio in London.

"We’re dramatically improving the levels of both the competition and broadcast production for Flashpoint 2", MonteCristo said in a statement. "We’re eager to give our fans a raw and unfiltered CS:GO tournament series while still taking necessary precautions to keep players safe."

According to B Site, the tournament "will be limited to teams who are able to quarantine in Europe". With the lineup for Flashpoint 2 containing teams from two different regions, this suggests that B Site is one of the tournament organisers that have been working to bring North America-based squads over to Europe for the final months of the year.

I think its still more exciting though, new dig, new c9, new mibr and all the others have switched atleast 1 player

+1 the new envy roster has a lot of potential as long as legija isnt playing during this tournament. MICHU, Calyx, and Thomas are all great at their respective roles, Nifty is a passable awper, LEGIJA is just a massive weak spot Although dig hasnt announced their 4th and 5th, their roster rn has some potential, Gen. G also hold a lot of potential as long as they get two players that can hold their own on the server C9 is obviously being hyped up rn and should be a good team. c0ntact is also looking better than they ever have under the c0ntact org, smooya, ottoNd, and EpiranTo are all very good, Spinx looks insane rn, and snappi is an experienced igl not sure about mibr tho

They've gone into fairly deep detail in the past about how they'd do the LAN safety-wise and how they would be able to get so much better content with the players in the same building as them. From what they'd said on their weekly show these past few weeks it seemed very likely that it would be on LAN. Maui spoke about a London bubble on the show last week, so they're just bubbling the talent? Surely if the logistics to bubble the talent are manageable, then what would stop them from bubbling the players?

They went into detail about how they wanted to build it as a LAN and how they would approach it for a safe way to do it. Then Europe opened up, and they found solutions for that. They figured London would be good since it is easy for FaceIt to work there, most of the Talent and players are familiar with the country and city... and blam! All restirctions come in harder than ever. Not really Flashpoints fault that UK got hit hard in a 2nd wave of Covid. I guess they were planning a LAN, but getting the teams there will be impossible due to UK new restrictions.

He is Creative Director. Which means he is an employee and in charge for the broadcast and the content coming out of the league. That is in the org's decision making and not the league's decisions. He is in charge of analysts, casters, on-air-time, interviews, banter, etc... How is the league his then? I agree, but the changes and roster moves comes about 2-3 months late. They knew that FP was supposed to be in November, so their rosters should be ready in August, so they can play together for a while to find their form. But this is just FP2... Considering how many changes have happened with the FP teams since then, I think FP4 will be amazing... as long as they keep it up

It's interesting in the sense that a lot of new rosters from orgs with cash are about to be revealed. I'd like Flashpoint so succeed. If only for the fact I like the idea of a fairly cheap buy in for CSGO orgs for a tournament they own. But they need that EPL contract to run out and they need to drive hard to get some better teams. I imagine if Flashpoint keeps going that some teams will come simply due to the prize pool involved but who knows.
