Official: MAD Lions complete lineup with refrezh and HooXi

The rumored addition of the x6tence duo to MAD Lions has been confirmed by the Spanish organization.

MAD Lions have announced that they have completed the signing of Rasmus "⁠HooXi⁠" Nielsen and Ismail "⁠refrezh⁠" Ali from x6tence. With the addition of the two new players, MAD Lions' lineup is once again back to five players after they benched Paweł "⁠innocent⁠" Mocek in late September and transferred Asger "⁠AcilioN⁠" Larsen to Copenhagen Flames earlier on Tuesday.

The duo spent just over three months playing under the x6tence tag, having been signed by the Spanish organization in late June alongside the rest of the former Copenhagen Flames lineup.

refrezh and HooXi's addition becomes official just ahead of a busy campaign for MAD Lions, who will first play the Elisa Invitational 2 qualifier for BLAST Premier Fall Showdown at the end of October.

The new lineup will then go through a trial by fire in November, as they'll take part in two tournaments whose dates coincide in part; the second season of Flashpoint (November 9-December 6) and the European side of IEM Beijing-Haidan (November 6-22), followed by the BLAST Showdown (November 23-29), should the Danes manage to qualify.

With the newest members, MAD Lions will hope to return to contention for a spot among the top-ten teams in the world, a position they gradually lost over the last four months after a series of mixed results and the benching of Lucas "⁠Bubzkji⁠" Andersen.

That is their wish though. They want to create talent and send it of. Thats their model. Danish CS have so many teams they cant all be at the top. so they found their platform to work from and a platform from where they can operate healthy. Creating talent and ship them of.. OFC it is fun that danish cs talent teams often make it into top 30, when most other nations cant even get one team in top 30. As said before. more nations should look at how the scene work in denmark and learn from it and further cs talent work in other places. would be good for the sport. If the US looked at some of the stuff they might be able to do things thinking of all the money there is in the US compared to Denmark. despite the foundation for E sports is not good in the US. but im sure there would be things to learn. I wished my nation looked to Denmark for ways to do things.

they had no other igl options. hunden retired. acilion is mediocre. berry/torben/sycrone/netrick/tobiz irrelevant. gla1ve/blamef/karrigan/msl won't join this team whatsoever. mankz is promising but not ready for this level yet hooxi is the best option possible, and this guy has a potential, you'll see

Why those spanish orgs turn away from their own country players, instead going for other nationalities? Is there a problem with italian and spanish players (for example) , that can't develop enough to get to upper levels? Is it a cultural thing or what?

There are only three spanish orgs with full spanish roster, Wygers, Queso and S2V. Long story short, many people asked for way too much money years ago and now clubs are tired of people tweeting twice a month, not creating fanbase and not improving as much year after year.

HooXi is a great signing, a really good IGL that can also frag well, refrezh have potential to be TOP 20 player imo., great additions from MAD Lions. For me this roster is looking great on paper, we will see how will it do.
