Watch how the race to the top 10 team list of 2020 unfolded as the year progressed.

On New Year's Eve, after going through our ranking's numbers over the course of the year we revealed our top 10 teams of 2020, a list that was met with quite a lot of controversy as usual, perhaps even more so after an incredibly competitive season saw nine of the top-10 placings decided only at the last tournament of the year.

To complement the list, we put together a video to showcase how the race was unfolding throughout 2020 in a more visual way, in which you'll see the exact positions and how close teams were to each other after every notable tournament of the year. Keep in mind that these do not reflect the teams' positions in our world ranking at the time and are instead a combination of the average number of points earned per tournament and the overall sum, a formula we used specifically to determine the top 10 list.

Hltv gives a huge weight to IEM Katowice as it is the closest event to a major. Thus NAVI has a big advance in the very begining, and the other teams don't earn enough with the other events to catch up the missing points. Only Astralis can to it at the very end, thanks to 2 wins and 1 final.

Yeah. s1mple's the highest rated player on train, in all history, if I'm not wrong. That's why Navi picks train :D In 2 of the 3 that Navi lost, s1mple had below 1 rating. In the other one that they lost, s1mple carried with a 40 bomb but still lost, because es3tag also carried with a 40 bomb (22-19 in EPL-12) lol.

External factors aren't considered. s1mple has worse stats against CIS than against EU, for example. Anyway, to answer your question: Navi - 5 GrandFinals, 2 GroupFinals, 6 Top3/Top4, 2 victories, 1 joint-victory. And I didn't even count Gamers without borders.

Yes but i disagree with the calculations itself, that shouldn't determine the #1 team in the world. Astralis was nowhere near as consistent as they were during the fall for the first half of the year. Imo nobody really was the best team of 2020, it was too back and forth but if i had to pick one it would certainly not be Astralis, maybe Vita or NaVi idk.

i feel bad for NA cs , i dont know what happen if NA cs still alive . but NA have a lot potential player and just left for valorant because unappreaciated. especially Gen.G i see a lot potential with these roster before (especially bntet have more impact and more consistent) i want EU get this good boy as their riffler or IGL (aim ? insane , igling ? super smart tactic (makes kaze confused as bottom fragger) that's good igl tyloo igl dedicated for 2 year and have awesome carrier .
