Jamppi to step down from ENCE - Report

The 19-year-old player is not going to be a part of the team's new lineup and is weighing up his options.

Elias "⁠Jamppi⁠" Olkkonen will not be included on ENCE's new, overhauled roster and is considering a switch to VALORANT, Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat has reported.

Earlier in January, DBLTAP reported that ENCE were looking to bring in Marco "⁠Snappi⁠" Pfeiffer and Thomas "⁠TMB⁠" Bundsbæk to complete their lineup, which has been depleted to just three players following the benching of Jere "⁠sergej⁠" Salo and Miikka "⁠suNny⁠" Kemppi.

Jamppi is considering a move to VALORANT

Snappi has been made available for transfer by c0ntact, while TMB is on AGF's books and has garnered a lot of attention in recent days, having been selected as a "Bold prediction" by three Danish players who made the HLTV Top 20. The final piece of the puzzle, according to Ilta-Sanomat, is Tuomas "⁠SADDYX⁠" Louhimaa, who stood in for ENCE in their final matches of 2020 and was last week sold by SJ to an undisclosed organisation.

A switch to a different game could be beneficial to Jamppi's career, which has been hampered in Counter-Strike due to a VAC ban connected to an account he owned, ruling him out of Valve-sponsored events. The Finnish player, who was featured in our "One for the future" article series in 2019, reportedly missed out on a chance to join OG due to the ban, but moved up to the top tier by linking up with ENCE in April of 2020.

A disappointing year for ENCE finished in turbulent fashion as Jani "⁠Aerial⁠" Jussila, sergej, and suNny left ENCE's starting lineup in the span of two months. In December, the organization said that it took "full responsibility for not understanding the severity of the existent problems" in the team, noting that it was evaluating its options moving forward.

According to the reports, ENCE will have the following lineup:

Actually finnish is even somewhat "close" only with hungarian. There simply does not exist any other fenno-ugrian language, and even those two are unrelated that much that our mutual understanding with hungarians is zero in the lingual sense. Scandinavian languages share similiar system with each other but I think only swedes and norwegians can have some kind of real conversation with each's given language - tho I dont think they do that alot cos everyone likes to hate his neighbor a bit lol.

It's really something about the old Finnish players not getting along together, especially in this case; before 2019 allu had a very good reputation as a teammate - for example Friberg and NiKo have spoken highly of allu's personality and valued having "a player like him" in a team. Obviously he's been an asshole in ENCE, that can be seen even from the behind the scenes videos that ENCE themselves have filmed, but he's played with a ton of players before, with no major incidents from his behalf (though we don't know for sure what happened with FaZe, but at least it wasn't a clear-cut "allu is a dick" situation).

Also it seems like source of this whole article is Jamppi saying in his stream that he would prefer playing Valorant instead of going to school or working as cashier, IF he wouldn't be able to play CSGO. Hartikainen is like the golden boy of Teemu "wAbbit" Hiilinen, who is the respected journalist and event host in our local scene. Ilta-Sanomat surely is other wise one of those yellow journalism papers out there. Also I'm still a little bit sad other local yellow "trash" medias are not writing news about Finnish eSports such as Iltalehti is not. Back in the days we tried to get eSports there with the help of Procyon, ENCE's owner / management, but they are still seeing that eSports isn't sports.
